Let's prepare Sri Lankan Fish Patties Recipe suitable for tea time.
Good evening to all my Hive friends. How are you? I hope you are doing well. Today, I want to share a delicious recipe with you - Sri Lankan Fish Patties. These fish patties are a delightful and savory snack, perfect for tea time, with a crispy pastry and a flavorful filling. The filling typically includes salmon, potatoes, and a blend of spices, along with finely chopped onions, green chilies, and garlic. However, I decided to use boiled and crushed cassava instead of potatoes, ensuring that each Pastry is packed with flavor. Let’s dive into the step-by-step preparation of this delicious dish.
Required Ingredients...
🍀 1 teaspoon of curry powder.
🍀 1 teaspoon of rushed chili powder.
🍀 Water.
🍀 Salt as required.
🍀 Wheat flour 150g.
🍀 A little chopped onion.
🍀 3 or 4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped.
🍀 2 green chillies, finely chopped.
🍀 A few finely chopped curry leaves.
🍀 1 tablespoon of Margarine.
🍀 A piece of tinned fish.
🍀 Boiled and mashed cassava tuber.
🍀 Coconut oil for frying.
Method of making.
1 Step.
First, take a bowl and add wheat flour to it. Then, add a pinch of salt and some margarine, mixing it well until it's evenly combined. Gradually add a little water at a time, kneading the mixture into a smooth dough. Keep it aside for about 10 minutes.
2 Step.
Then take a pan and add about a tablespoon of coconut oil to it and put it on the stove. After it gets hot, add garlic and onion and mix it. Add canned fish, curry leaves and green chillies and fry for two minutes.
3 Step.
Next, add chili powder, curry powder and boiled and crushed cassava to it and mix well for another two minutes and remove from the stove.
4 Step.
Then take a wooden board or a plate and sprinkle some flour on it. Roll out the dough until it's thin. Once it's evenly rolled out, use a Patties mold to cut out circles, ensuring they match the size of the mold.
5 Step.
Then, take the patties mold and place the thin, round dough inside. Add the prepared filling in the desired amount, and carefully fold the dough over to shape the patties as shown in the following steps.
6 Step.
Then again take a pan and put coconut oil in it and keep it on the stove. Once the oil is hot, fry the fish patties until golden.
So, the fish patties are ready! These are perfect for tea time, serving to guests, or enjoying as a quick snack. They can be savored on their own or paired with chili or tomato sauce.
