Let's make a delicious roti for the tea drinking time.
Good evening to all my Hive friends! How are you all doing?
Today, I’d like to share how I prepared a simple and delicious roti recipe that's perfect for tea time. Roti is one of the easiest and most versatile dishes to make. It holds a cherished place in culinary traditions around the world due to its simplicity and deliciousness. In Sri Lanka, roti is a staple dish enjoyed by everyone. It's quick and easy to prepare, making it a favorite for busy mealtimes. While it is often served as a main dish, roti can also be transformed into a delightful snack when paired with a warm cup of tea.
For today’s recipe, I added a twist by including a filling made with two types of vegetables. This unique vegetable-filled roti is both nutritious and flavorful. Let’s dive into how to prepare this exciting variation of roti!
Method of making....
🍀 Wheat flour 200g.
🍀 2 tablespoon of Butter.
🍀 Salt as required.
🍀 1 Teaspoon chili powder.
🍀 Some Marmite.
🍀 Some finely chopped cabbage.
🍀 Some finely chopped carrots.
🍀 A little chopped onion.
🍀 Two finely chopped kochi pods.
🍀 Finely chopped curry leaves.
🍀 Some coconut oil.
Method of making....
First, take some wheat flour and add it to a bowl. To this, add chili powder, butter, and salt as required, along with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Gradually add water while mixing to form a smooth dough. Once the dough is ready, let it rest for about 10 minutes.
Next, I prepared the filling for the roti. For this, place a pan on the stove and add about two tablespoons of coconut oil. Add chopped chili, onion, and curry leaves, and mix well. To this mixture, add finely chopped cabbage, carrot, and a pinch of salt. Sauté the mixture for about 3 minutes and then remove it from the stove.
Next, take the dough and divide it into small portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle on a flat surface. Add a small amount of the vegetable mixture to the center of the dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to seal it, creating a stuffed roti. Set the prepared stuffed rotis aside.
Next, place a pan on the stove and add a small amount of coconut oil. On low heat, cook the stuffed rotis, flipping them occasionally, until both sides are golden brown and evenly cooked.
Next, spread Marmite on the rotis and serve them as a tasty addition to your meal. This will add a rich and savory flavor to the rotis, making them even more delicious. Enjoy!
Finally, whether you are serving guests or simply craving a quick homemade snack, preparing roti for tea time is a perfect choice that combines simplicity with delightful flavors. Until we meet again with another new recipe, enjoy your meal and stay tuned!
