splinterlands is one of the competitive games in the world because:

No player wants to Lose- A player knows that when he/she loses a battle, he/she won't be given any reward for that particular battle.
For instance, After I won the first battle I played this morning, I was rewarded with 65 Glints, 20 points and 0.17 SPS while 20 points were deducted from my opponent.

This is one of the techniques of splinterlands that makes it very competitive.
If you ask any players that, Do you love when you are losing splinterlands battles? I don't think 5 out of the 100 will say ‘yes'.
No player wants to lose, especially players that are playing in the champion league. They wrestle for points to climb the leaderboard. A loss to a player in the first position of the leaderboard in the champion league can cause such a player to drop in a position. That is the reason they are very focused on playing the battles.

I remembered the time when I visited my friend who was playing in the champion league account. He was always focused while playing the battles because he was third in the champion league leaderboard, and he was aiming for first position.
He knew that the third position was fragile, a loss could drag him back.

Aiming To win: This is the mentality of 95% of players in splinterlands.
The maximum Number of energy given to a player is 50, and if a player loses 20 battles out of 50, it will also affect the rewards. Therefore, players are always aiming to win the majority of their battles even though it is tough to win 50 battles at a time.

It was very important for me to win this battle, that was the reason I came with Iziar since magic monsters were the best monster for this battle. I knew that the taunt ability would make all opponents monsters to attack Iziar, and the Void ability would reduce the damage done by magic attack monsters.
I was very sure that my opponent would not used range monsters because they won't attack in first position.

How Can I Mastering Splinterlands Techniques And Strategies?
Pay Attention To Rules of the battles
Splinterlands battle This battle has three rules and they are Shades of gray, Target practice and Are you not entertained?
To win this battle, the three rules must be observed by a players before selecting a summoner and monsters.
I understood that When ‘shade of gray’ is activated, few monsters would be available for selection.

I understood that only monsters with Neutral unit would be available; and the moment I saw the ‘Neutral unit’ rule, I knew the monsters that would be available for me.
That was the reason I selected the best monsters for the battle. I knew Drybone Raider would be beneficial, and Goblin Mech would be good for backup.
Target Practice gave me insight of the kind of monsters to use, I knew that if my opponent used magic attacks, they would attack my magi of chaos because of the target Practice rule that gave snipe ability to all monsters in the battle. I knew Doctor Blight won't be attacked because of the Camouflage ability.
That was the reason I used magi of chaos as sacrificial lamb.
I did not have Gladius monsters with neutral ability, and I have not seen any in a battle. I knew that if there was a gladius card with neutral ability, it would have changed the plan of the battle.
There were more of sneak monsters with neutral ability; and that was the reason I placed Dumacke Orc as the last monster due to shield and retaliate abilities.

The two important monsters that came to my when I saw the rules of this battle were Djinn Oshannus and Venari Wavesmith.
My opponent was very smart by using a Summoner that reduces two armor from my monsters. Therefore, Venari Wavesmith’s protect ability was nullified.
If not because of the Summoner he used, he might be difficult for him to destroy Venari Wavesmith.
He used magi Necrosi to dislurge my line in the middle; that was a wonderful lineup.
When I saw Magi Necrosi, I was said to myself, ‘why did I not use Water elemental instead of Venari Wavesmith’.
I was very sure that killing Venari Markstrat would a benefit to Djinn Oshannus. When it was eliminated, all the stats of Djinn Oshannus increased.

I used Furious Chicken as the last monster in case my opponent use a sneak or opportunity monster. My strategy was that before Furious Chicken and Creepy Ooze would be eliminated, more harm would be done to opponent lineup. I was shocked to see magic monster with snipe ability.
Holy Protection rule in this battle made me to attack in one direction. I like to attack in one direction when Holy protection is given in battles. It is difficult to eliminate monsters at once when holy protection is activated. but, if all monsters are attacking in one direction, it is the best for me.
I like to use a monster with blast ability when holy protection is activated.

Be Precise in Decision
I lost battles several times because I was very slow to make decisions. The time given to select a monster is very short, you should be precise in selecting monsters and a Summoner.
There were times when I kept on changing monsters while selecting them for battles. I never knew I was left with 5 seconds, and before picking all the monsters for the battles, the time was already gone. I lost several battles in that process!

Use Your Best Summoners and Monsters In Every Battle

I knew the best way to win this battle was to use Obsidian summoner. Because of this summoner, I used two magic monsters despite the weak magic rule.
When I saw what my opponent arranged I was perplexed. I knew that I needed luck to win the battle.

He knew that the best way to fight this type of battle was to use speed monsters and a summoner. He used a summoner that gives speed to friendly monsters and a monster with swiftened. All his monsters were boosted with +2 speed.
In round 1, Hill Giant was eliminated; it wasn't allowed to attack in this battle. My hope of using Hill Giant was hopeless.
When Clockwork Aide was eliminated, the speed of opponent monsters were reduced. That was how I won the battle.

Understand your strength

If you have higher points, you will be paired with players with higher points. Those players may be in the Gold or Diamond league while you are in the silver league. It will be very difficult to defeat them because they have more cards than you, and their cards are at a higher level.
