Update On The Hive-Woodpeckers Project

Afternoon to you all

It's been a while since the last post as life has been pretty hectic lately. Getting time to do these updates has been harder and harder.
But we are back for now and have a new and rather sad update about the project.

It is currently on hold as we had a fire in the workshop. We had a fuse board with the old domino looking breakers which have a lovely bit of fuse wire in them. Something tripped the electrics and melted the fuse wire, which melted the fuse casing, fuse board and happily landed on my freshly prepared, straight as an arrow timber. I had been preparing this stuff for weeks now and it is a massive blow to me and the project as a whole.

In hindsight, keeping timber next to it wasn't the best of ideas, but it has been fine for so long that I got careless. Won't be happening ever again I tell you!

So now currently, we have no workshop, the weather has been bloody awful and there is a ton of work that now needs doing to get it back up to scratch. A very good deep clean to try and remove the burnt smell is also taking me forever but it will get there eventually.

Where has this left the project?
Well currently I have no more funding available, I am working overtime and extra days to try to bring some money in to get repairs done and new material sourced. This is annoyingly leaving me with very little time to see my family, sort my household out and clean and repair the workshop. So something has had to give, and sadly the project is currently on hold for a few weeks at least. Unless some kind of miracle happens and I manage to arrange some funding from somewhere.

Some of the kids projects got destroyed in the fire so telling them was actually the worst part. Luckily no one was in there at the time, and I managed to catch it before it did any real long term damage to the rest of the workshop and building in general.
The insurance also does not cover it as the electrics are not up to code (didn't see that in the small print, currently arguing this but looks like nothing will come of this).

I had planned a while back to come to the Hive community to ask for some help with this project in the way of approaching a DHF fund proposal.
There will be a great return potential for the Hive community and I am currently trying to get some more opportunities to advertise Hive in my local area.
If I can manage to get my proposal passed, it will allow me to restart the workshop much quicker, but the main benefit to the community as a whole is that with an advertising budget I can spread the awareness of Hive much further than I currently can do.

So far I have onboarded one of the kids, who is loving what Hive brings in the social aspect for them. Hopefully with time they will start being more vocal on Hive but at the moment it is slow going for them as they get used to the whole crypto space.

A big thanks to @bitcoinman who's been a great help and also @stickupcurator, @brosonleo and @raymondspeaks for being awesome and helping support me through this project so far.

So sorry to hear about the fire, it sucks when things like this happens. Luckily no one was hurt, that's the main thing.

Once you're ready and have things set up again, don't do a DHF proposal. That's for bigger projects. Apply to the value plan for funding. Not sure how the process works but maybe talk to @hallmann from Poland, he has the experience in using value plan funding to run community workshops. Good luck

Thankyou for the advice. I only knew about the DHF fund. I will check out this value plan.
Thanks for the heads up. Appreciated

The issue I have is that I will struggle to get it up and running quick enough I think.
But I'll try and contact some of them in the valueplan post, thanks for the help

The most important thing is to get yourself set up properly, no need to rush into things. I guess the funding will need to see some sort of plan and commitment from you and how it will help raise Hive awareness so take your time to plan it well.

If they can assist me in getting up and running quicker, I don't see it as a bad thing asking them for help.
Unfortunately I don't have an idea how to even get a hold of them. Have tried the usual tags but I will give it a week and see.
