Lunchtime Business Meditation: How to Promote Your Offer on Ad Sites
It's been a few days since I've posted anything, so I wanted to hop on today and address a question that came up earlier this week.
The question was about how to track an affiliate link on an advertising site. To be specific, it was a question about how to advertise on the AffiliateAdvertising.Club, but my answer would apply to any traffic exchange, safelist, or advertising site.
In spite of the question, my reply did not cover how to track an affiliate link when posting it directly on an advertising platform.
Why not?
Well, I believe there are three important reasons why you shouldn't directly advertise your affiliate link on sites like the Affiliate Advertising Club or any other traffic exchange.
That's what I discuss in the video:
3 Reasons Why You Should Avoid Posting Affiliate Links On Traffic Exchanges & Safelists
1) Does Your URL Render In Frames? When you post your affiliate link directly on those platforms, your site may appear in a frame. Unfortunately, frames do not always render websites properly, resulting in empty spaces or error messages. As a result, you end up wasting your credits. So, it's best to avoid directly promoting your affiliate link on those types of platforms.
Even if your affiliate link renders properly on an ad site, it is still not an effective strategy for you to adopt. It's the lazy-marketers' approach to marketing. The trouble is, ad site surfers have likely seen the same affiliate link hundreds of times before. By not offering anything new or unique, you're not capturing their attention.
2) Instead, I recommend that you create a unique lead-capture page page where you can share an offer and invite visitors to join your list. By doing this, you'll set yourself apart from the crowd and have a much more effective business strategy. The resource I recommend for your lead capture pages is Leadsleap. Leadsleap lead capture pages are designed to render properly in frames, so you won't waste your ad credits when you use them to direct traffic to pages you have created on Leadsleap.
Build Your List First And (If You Do It Right) The Ca$h Will Follow
What you need to understand about Internet marketing is this: It is crucial to build your list first. Many people fail at internet marketing because they're too focused on making a quick sale. However, rushing to promote your affiliate link without building a relationship with your audience is a recipe for failure. And the place to build that relationship is your mailing list.
Building your list allows you to provide value to your subscribers, show them who you are, and sell on the back end when they have become familiar with you. Sure, it takes more work in the beginning, but it is far more effective in bringing in sales in the long run.
3) Another important aspect is personally branding your opt-in page. By adding your photo and name to your opt-in page, you let people know they're opting into a page run by a real person. This personal touch helps establish trust and connection with your audience, and builds your "brand" as an Internet marketing expert.
So, to sum it up, remember these three tips: avoid directly promoting your affiliate link on traffic exchanges, safelists, and other ad sites. Focus on building unique opt-in pages to build your list, and consider personally branding your opt-in page for added authenticity.
Good luck in your marketing efforts!
Cheers.

Hello David, I follow and agree for the most part base on the way you framed it. !lol
I think it can be beneficial to advertise an affiliate link in a traffic exchange site. And I don't follow what you mean as per wasted credits. Some clarification needed and several factors come into play.
A branded splash page or LCP is value added for sure.
As per being on a mailing list; man I delete a lot of mail.

Hi @fjworld - in the video I mention that I see a lot of affiliate pages that do not render properly inside the frame of a traffic exchange. All you see is a grey space, not the intended landing page. If your spend ad credits on an affiliate landing page that does not render properly inside a frame on a traffic-exchange, then your credits are wasted.
Oh yes, I delete emails and unsubscribe from lists too. The point is to provide relevent value for your target audience.

Absolutely. We are only as good as our audience.
On the matter of a page not rendering properly, to me that is the result of low quality service form your provider. ie Traffic Exchange owner. I surf a lot because I am not one to expect my customer to do something I wouldn't do. !lol Know what I mean? I check every ad campaign submitted. I have had to suspend some LeadsLeap submissions but once they take notice of the reason they submit another url. Sometimes a url will past my testing but when I surf I see an issue and it gets suspended. So there are not many cases where an advertiser looses on credits. However, because most TE owners use the same underlying script, issues propagate in the industry and suddenly all TEs are contaminated.
I believe I understand the concerns you raised. In addressing many of the issues around low quality advertising, I decided to make ePayTrafffic a 1:1 traffic exchange site. Just like the original days. You look at mine I look at yours. I am sure you are aware of some draw backs from using a short surf timer to view ads. I customized my script to give all ad campaigns additional views that do not consume credits. As long as the ad campaign has credits assigned, it will receive views outside of the surfing page. I see great value in this Free advertisement bonus. For example, in the following link,
https://epaytraffic.com/trade/members/membersites.php
Visitors can search for links advertised by members. Views and clicks that didn't consume any ad credits.
Demonstrating a Value Added Service and not just displaying the word quality in a fancy font.
Thanks again for a great video and post. Right up my alley. I got a chance to refresh my mind on some of the improvements coming to the traffic exchanging world. #PEPT

Hi @fjworld - I popped over to your traffic exchange after reading your first comment and noticed the 1-1 surf ratio even though I am a free member. I appreciate that.
On your TE, I am promoting a lead capture page for my "Beginners Crypto Course." For me the priorities when advertising on TEs are to "build my brand" by placing my photo and name on a unique landing page, and to build my list. If I post a generic affiliate link, I will achieve neither of those goals.
I'm now following you on Hive, so let's keep the conversation going!

Indeed, you are an excellent source for learning before earning.
I am all about branding and establishing an online identity. My priority and goal is to brand @fjworld and @epaytraffic to lead to my mugshot. !lol
It's a slow process but that is part of building a foundation to support all changes coming. Including unknowns. So instead of the whole building falling over I only need to upgrade the floors impacted from technological and social changes.
Agree. Why I include my mugshot on the main page of my site. I am ok with someone circulating my mugshot. !lol
Like you I like the use of splash pages and LCPs but I do see some disconnects. Some of these pages are often promoting the tool or provider of the page and not the individual promoting the page. Means many affiliates are promoting someone else objectives.
For example, on your mentioned page,
https://llpgpro.com/mhpz6yzd/ept
It looks to me you are promoting LeadsLeap. In a way you are and you hope to build that revenue stream in addition to a specific mailing list. BTW I added 1,000 credits to your ad campaign.
My current solution, still in dev, is member client pages.
https://epaytraffic.com/trade/members/clientpage.php
When I figured out the possibilities of Hive protocol to integrate with existing Web2 technologies I had to step back and reinforce my foundation for future needs of members, clients and visitors.
I better stop, I am rambling. Thanks again for the stimuli

Woah! Thank you for the credits!
Oh, I am definitely promoting Leadsleap! I could turn off that little promo tab at the bottom, but I'm happy to keep it there. Leadsleap is a key part of my online business.
Some traffic exchanges offer their members personalised promo pages, which I think is a good way for people to start branding themselves and a great way for the program owner to add value and get more publicity
. I'd like to see more of them offer a list-building function too - maybe for the top-level upgrade.
Even so, I prefer to create my own unique pages pages on Leadsleap.
I admire the amount of effort you have invested in making your TE the best possible.
You may remember, I had a hybrid traffic-exchange/safelist mailer of my own for quite a while, but I shut it down a few weeks ago to focus on my current Leadsleap-based funnel-building projects.
