Staying at Gunhed village campsite

After the Bir Running Festival, that is on 20th May, we paid for the billing done in the event. We spent the whole day dealing with people and ate a lot of food and drank a lot of water. On 20th May, we planned that the next day we will go to the campsite located in Gunhed village to relax ourselves after so much hard work. And from there we will go to the waterfall further ahead to have fun.

In the morning we book the campsite by calling. Here we calculate the money spent in the event and make the payment to those who have to pay. After having lunch in the afternoon, we go to the Bir landing site and meet some people. In the evening, around 5 pm, we check out of our hotel and load all the luggage in the vehicles. We have 2 vehicles with us in which 10 people are riding.

We reach Gunhed campsite before sunset. The height here is 1750 meters and from here a beautiful view of Ahlu Valley is visible. We keep our luggage in 4 tents here. This campsite is about 3 km from the main road, so it is not as noisy as Bir and neither is there a crowd of people here. We park the car, unload our luggage and keep it in the booked tent.

Now there is nowhere to go, the sun is setting in front of us, behind us is the 2800 meter high mountain where the race was held 2 days ago. A walking trail from Gunhed also goes to Chhina Pass. I have heard about this trail from many people but till date I have never seen this trail. I promise to see this trail next time.

This campsite belongs to a doctor sahab whom we know. And it has to be admitted that he has built a very beautiful place so far from the main town. We see a skybridge at a distance, admire a bicycle moving on it and finally witness the sunset. If you have time, do visit this place.

About 1.5 km ahead from here is the Gunhed waterfall which we will go to see tomorrow morning. Taking a dip in the waterfall in the scorching heat will be a very pleasant experience. If anyone wants to come, they will have to come to Baijnath first from Delhi, for which the tourist will have to spend about 12 hours in a bus to complete the 585 km long road journey. After reaching Baijnath, one can reach Bir by local bus or taxi, which is only 16 km away from Baijnath.

From Bir village, one can reach Gunhed by taking a local taxi, which is only 3 km away. There is a lot of space for car parking here. And there is a provision for about 18 people to stay at this campsite. After sunset, we drink a cup of coffee, after which we have dinner at 8 pm. The food was very tasty. While eating, we gazed at the rising moon from behind the mountain. Coming here was a good decision, the fatigue of the event disappeared immediately after reaching here.

I hope you liked this campsite located in the lap of the Himalayas. That's all for today. See you in the next post where I will take you to the waterfall located 1.5 km ahead from here. See you in the next post till then stay healthy and keep smiling.
