Aquarius, Between Tradition And Revolution

Constellations Pyrography

Today I completed another pyrography project, and as the smell of burnt wood slowly fades away I look proudly at my latest creation on a beautiful disc of Birch wood. This time I chose a different sign of our zodiac. The Aquarius! Now you may be asking yourself why this choice. And I will answer that question right away. It may have been written in the stars, but the real answer can be explained more logically. I was the first to burn a Capricorn because I was born under that zodiac sign. My partner was born under the Zodiac sign Aquarius, so I thought that was a logical choice for my second large Birch tree disc.

Aquarius

What can I tell you about Aquarius? It is of course the water bearer! And Aquarius is a sign that floats between reality and imagination. But certainly also between tradition and innovation. And I also notice that in my partner. He loves old crafts. The more traditionally something is made, the more beautiful he finds it. But at the same time, he is one of the first to try out a new technique or machine. By the way, he has no interest in crypto. Unfortunately, the new technology is not for him. You won't make him happy with many euros either, the point is that you need money in this world to live, but if he could do without it, then that would be what he chose. As a true Capricorn, I have always admired the unique qualities of Aquarians. The free spirit and originality of my partner's character touch and inspire me time and time again.

Visionary Pioneers

Aquarius are often described as visionaries, pioneers of ideas and concepts that are off the beaten track, and I recognize this in my partner. He can have very unconventional thoughts. He is certainly not afraid to go against the flow. His spirit seems indomitable, always trying to think of something new and create new things. Unfortunately, I miss discovering new horizons in him at the moment, the circumstances no longer allow it. That was certainly present when we first met. The sailboat he had was excellent proof of that.

Free spirit

In the pyrography project I came up with I wanted to portray Aquarius as a symbol of freedom. I wanted to show the free spirit that I recognize in my partner. Whether this was successful is something everyone can decide for themselves.

Two Planets

Aquarius is ruled by two planets, Saturn & Uranus. Uranus is the planet of renewal and revolution. This zodiac sign is often associated with social justice and progressive ideas. I certainly recognize the social rights of my partner, but I have to think a little more about progressive ideas. He often leans more towards the traditional. What I appreciate is his compassion, his selfless attitude, and the helpfulness that he possesses to a great extent. He is never afraid to help someone else, and never wants anything in return. That is also his pitfall. Certainly in the past, many people have abused his goodness.

Proud of my work

Today I completed my project, and when he got home I was proud to show my piece again. In total, I spent about 12 hours on this project, from sanding the disc to designing 'my Aquarius', to transferring my design onto the wood and then burning. Finally, the letters are painted with metallic watercolor. I am proud of the result, my partner's compliments made me beam with pride. All I have to do now is decide whether we are going to hang these two pieces at home, or whether I am going to see if I can sell them.

Only 10 Zodiac Signs to Go

If I decide on the latter, the big question is, what should they cost? I haven't figured that out yet. I have no idea what people are willing to pay for a unique handmade piece of which no second exists. Well, those are worries for later... I know I just have to order a few new tree discs because the rest of the zodiac signs also have to be immortalized. Now that I've started it, I want to continue it. It won't be ready next week...but that doesn't matter. It keeps me busy and it keeps me creative.

Each constellation sign has its own story and unique qualities to reflect on. And from each zodiac sign that I now delve into, I learn something more about people and the world.

Yeah, I probably keep those two and order myself the next tree slices to start burning new ones. The next on my list will be Scorpio. Why Scorpio? I checked the dog's birthdays. Myla is a Pisces and Skipper is a Scorpio dog, so then I knew what to create next. Lol
