Wednesday Walk Challenge : Lac Lovering (Magog), Quebec

First of all, best wishes for this new year. This morning, waking up was a bit harder than usual, nice and long evening with friends last night 😀. So for the #WednesdayWalk organised by @tattoodjay, I'd like to take you on a little stroll by Lake Lovering where I spent a beautiful white Christmas last week.

Tout d'abord, je vous souhaite les meilleurs voeux pour cette nouvelle année. Ce matin, le réveil fut un peu plus difficile que d'habitude, agréable soirée entre amis hier soir 😀. Alors pour le #WednesdayWalk organisé par @tattoodjay, je vous propose une petite balade au bord du Lac Lovering ou j'ai passé un Noel blanc la semaine dernière.

The cottage was on the edge of Lovering Lake. Everything was white, so beautiful. The lake was frozen, and the neighbours had even made a small hockey field. Perfect for Holiday's time.

Le chalet se trouvait au bord du Lac Lovering, tout était blanc. Le lac était gelé, les voisins avaient même fait un petit terrain pour jouer au hockey.

Just to situate the chalet, we are in the Eastern Townships, east of Montreal, about 1? hours by car from Montreal. It was located between the towns of Magog and Stanstead (on the border with the United States), on the shores of Lake Lovering.

Juste pour situer le chalet, nous sommes en Estrie, à l'est de Montréal, environ 1h30 de voiture de Montréal. Le chalet était situé entre les villes de Magog et Stanstead (à la frontière avec les Etats-Unis), au bord du Lac Lovering.

When we woke up on Christmas Eve, everything was white. About twenty centimetres (8") of snow had fallen during the night and covered all the ground. Not a trace, it was immaculate. I took advantage of the fact that everyone was still asleep to make myself a coffee and go to discover the surrounding area.

Quand nous nous sommes réveillés la veille de Noel, tout était blanc. Une vingtaine de centimètres de neige était tombée pendant la nuit et recouvrait le terrain. Aucune trace, c'était immaculé. J'en ai profité comme tout le monde dormait encore de me faire un café et d'aller découvrir tout cela.

The chalet had its own little quay. It must be just as nice in summer to enjoy water activities : kayaking, paddle... Really well equipped, there was even a spa. After a day's skiing at the Mont Orford resort (20 minutes by car), what a pleasure to relax in the hot water while watching the snow-covered mountain and, on the lake, the children playing hockey.

Le chalet avait son propre quai. Cela doit être aussi agréable en été pour profiter des activités nautiques, kayak, paddle... Vraiment très bien équipé, il y avait même un spa. Après une journée de ski à la station du Mont Orford (20 minutes en voiture), quel plaisir de se relaxer dans l'eau chaude en regardant le mont enneigé et sur le lac, les enfants joués au hockey.

One evening, we tried to light a fire in the fireplace around these Adirondack chairs. But it was too cold, so we quickly went inside to finish off the evening with a good bottle of wine and a few board games.

Un soir, nous avons essayé d'allumer un feu dans le foyer autour de ces chaises Adirondack. Mais c'était trop froid, nous sommes vites rentrés à l'intérieur pour finir la soirée avec une bonne bouteille de vin et quelques jeux de société.

On 25 December, the sky was blue, almost cloudless. I took a morning walk by the lake. I thought I'd taken more photos, but when I emptied the memory card, I only had these two photos of rushes. I blamed my old camera but maybe the wine was still having an effect 😅.

Pour le 25 décembre, le ciel était bleu, presque sans nuage. J'ai fait une petite marche matinale au bord du lac. Je pensais avoir pris plus de photo, mais en vidant la carte mémoire, je n'avais que ces deux photos de joncs. J'ai blamé mon vieil appareil photo mais peut être que le vin faisant encore effet 😅.

I hope you enjoyed the walk along Lovering Lake. It's a really pretty area with lots of things to do nearby. There are also a few microbreweries whose products can easily be found in local grocery shops, see BeerSaturday 391 - O'boq (Le Boq). Perfect 😋

J'espère que vous avez apprécié la balade au bord du Lac Lovering. C'est vraiment une très jolie région avec beaucoup d'activité à faire dans les environs. Il y a aussi quelques microbrasseries dont on trouve facilement les produits dans les épiceries du coin, voir BeerSaturday 391 - O'boq (Le Boq). Parfait 😋
