It's cool to see a restaurant offer a program for artists to decorate some exterior elements. Since COVID, Montreal's Prince-Arthur pedestrian street has been in need of some love, as not all of the restaurants that once graced it have returned. So the OnArt project by the Onoir restaurant is most welcome. I talked about this initiative in a previous post StreetArt #697 with guest artists Polographe, Facies & Ekié.

C'est cool de voir un restaurant offrir un programme pour les artistes pour décorer quelques éléments extérieurs. Depuis la COVID, la rue piétonne Prince-Arthur à Montréal a bien besoin de cet amour car les restaurnts qui faisaient son charme ne sont pas tous revenus. Alors le projet OnArt du restaurant Onoir est vraiment le bienvenu. J'avais déjà parlé de cette initiative dans un précédent post StreetArt #697 avec les artistes invités Polographe, Facies & Ekié.

Today it's M. Roboto in the center, Charbel on the right and a little hidden on the left Monica Bosch. A few weeks ago, the central work was replaced by one done by Mart.

Aujourd'hui il s'agit de M. Roboto au centre, Charbel à droite et un peu caché sur la gauche Monica Bosch. Il y a quelques semaines l'œuvre centrale a été remplacée par une de Mart.

WHERE

On the corner of Prince-Arthur and De Bullion streets in Montreal, on the wall of the restaurant O'Noir which offers a menu in total darkness, hence the barricaded windows.

Au coin des rues Prince-Arthur et De Bullion à Montréal, sur le mur du restaurant O'Noir qui offre un menu dans l’obscurité totale d'ou les fenêtres barricadées.

WHO

M Roboto

I always enjoy discovering a new work by Raphaël Dairon aka M. Roboto because I really appreciate his universe, a mix of fantasy and robotics. Although in this door, no robot, but a journey to the "mysteries of the cosmos, but also to our imagination" as he says on his Instagram account.

J'aime toujours découvrir une nouvelle œuvre de Raphaël Dairon aka M. Roboto car j'apprécie beaucoup son univers, un mélange de l'imaginaire et de la robotique. Bien que dans cette porte, pas de robot mais un voyage vers les "mystères du cosmos, mais aussi vers notre imagination" comme il le dit sur son compte Instagram.

Charbel Abuxapqui

On the right is a monster by Charbel Abuxapqui, a surrealist artist from Mexico. He was in Montreal this summer and painted Beauty Is In Kindness. I advise you to zoom in on his work, as it's full of details (tattoos on the arms, and a funny little animal on the thigh...). Really beautiful (and therefore kind).

Sur la droite, il y a un monstre réalisé par Charbel Abuxapqui, artiste surréaliste méxicain. Il était de passage cet été à Montréal et il a peint La Beauté Est Dans La Bonté. Je vous conseille de zoomer sur son œuvre car elle est remplie de détails (tatouages sur les bras, et drôle de petit animal au niveau de la cuisse...). Vraiment de toute beauté (et donc de bonté).

Monica Bosch

The piece not clearly visible in my introductory photo was painted by Monica Bosch, an artist who describes herself as an "alchemist of color and master of texture". This blue heart is beautifully painted with the phrase: "Take a deep breath... And remember who you really are. The French phrase is repeated in calligraphy on the left.

L'œuvre qu'on ne voyait pas très bien sur ma photo d'introduction a été peinte par Monica Bosch, artiste se définissant comme une "alchimiste des couleurs et une maitre des textures". Ce cœur bleu est très bien fait avec la phrase : "Take a deep breat... And Remember who You Really Are" (Respirez... Et souviens toi qui tu es) . La phrase en français est reprise en calligraphie sur la gauche.

Mart

A few weeks ago, the imaginary world of M. Roboto was replaced by the Determination of Mart, an active Montreal artist. I like the style, it would look good on a tarot deck.

Il y a quelques semaines le monde imaginaire de M. Roboto a été remplacé par la Détermination de Mart, artiste montréalaise assez active. J'aime bien le style, on verrait bien cette figure sur un jeu de tarot.

Sloast

And finally, on another closed restaurant on the street, there's this wooden sign painted by Sloast. If this initiative can give other shopkeepers on the street ideas for decorating, that would be great. A favorite work?

Et pour terminer, sur un autre restaurant fermé de la rue, il y a ce panneau de bois peint par Sloast. Si cette initiative peut donner des idées aux autres commerçants de la rue pour l'embellir, cela serait très bien. Une œuvre préférée ?
