Normally, only my first photo tells you exactly where we are. But for newcomers, we're at the Legal Wall de Rouen in Montreal, a viaduct where anyone can paint legally. This place is very popular with the Montreal StreetArt community. And there's a lot of talent, as you'll see.

Normalement seulement avec ma première photo, vous savez exactement ou nous nous trouvons. Mais pour les nouveaux, nous sommes au Mur Légal de Rouen, un viaduc ou tout le monde peut venir peindre en toute légalité. Cet endroit est très prisé par la communauté StreetArt de Montréal. Et il y a beaucoup de talent comme vous allez le constater.

I visited the Legal Wall de Rouen at the end of May, beginning of June. And those who have been following my StreetArt series for some time may recognize from left to right Polographe, Adida and Deps.

Je suis passé par le Mur Légal de Rouen fin mai, début juin. Et ceux qui suivent ma série StreetArt depuis quelques temps peuvent reconnaitre de gauche à droite Polographe, Adida et Deps.

WHO

We start our tour as usual, always in the same direction. Just as I come this way in order to go to work. All I have to do is follow the numbering of the photos to show you the works of the day under the de Rouen Viaduct.

On commence notre tour comme d'habitude, toujours dans le même sens. Comme j'arrive de ce côté quand je vais au travail. J'ai juste à suivre la numérotation des photos pour voir faire découvrir les œuvres du jour sous le Viaduc de Rouen.

The entrance to the viaduct is marked by this work: “You fix the Horizon... You wait for the new dawn”. The artist is unknown to me, but I like the style and the sentence. / FR : L'entrée du viaduc se fait avec cette œuvre : "Tu fixes l'Horizon... T'attends la nouvelle aube". L'artiste m'est inconnu mais j'aime bien ce style et la petite phrase.

Penar, Polographe & Adida

The rest of the wall is done by regulars of the Legal Wall with simple but neat lettering done by Penar followed by a new character by Polographe, always stunning.

La suite du mur est faite par des habitués des lieux avec une lettrage simple de Penar suivi d'un nouveau personnage réalisé par Polographe, toujours magnifique.

Then we have Adida aka Adida Fallen Angel with a piece full of love and eyes as usual with this artist. The little green monster separating the two pieces isn't bad either, despite its rather simple design.

Puis on a Adida aka Adida Fallen Angel avec une oeuvre remplie d'amour et d'œil comme à son habitude. Le petit monstre vert séparant les deux oeuvres est pas mal non plus malgré son design plutôt simple.

Deps & Ensor

Tattoo artist Deps has painted the portrait of his niece, accompanied by superb lettering done by Ensor. / FR : Deps, tatoueur et artiste, a peint le portrait de sa nièce accompagné d'un superbe lettrage de Ensor.

His niece must have been proud to have her portrait on the wall. / *FR : Sa nièce a dû être fière d'avoir son portrait en grand sur ce mur.

Art is a Medecine by Irys

First time I've seen a mural by this artist Irys aka Aerosol Daydreams, lots of symbols and luckily there's the phrase “Art is a Medicine” to explain a bit* 😀.

Première fois que je vois une murale de cet artiste Irys aka Aerosol Daydreams, beaucoup de symboles et heureusement qu'il y a la phrase "Art is a Medecine" pour expliquer un peu 😀.

We cross the rue de Rouen to admire the other wall, which starts with this really cool head eating lettering. Unknown but talented artist... / FR : On traverse la rue de Rouen pour aller admirer l'autre mur qui commence avec cette tête vraiment cool mangeant un lettrage. Artiste inconnu mais talentueux...

Aldarwin, a Mexican artist, continues with his organic monsters. / FR Aldarwin, artiste mexicain continue avec ces monstres aux formes organiques.

Hospek

Another artist of Mexican origin follows, Hospek with large and great letters. / FR : Un autre artiste d'origine mexicaine suit, il s'agit Hospek avec de grosses lettres très réussies.

Speak Joual

For this Speak Joual, I don't know the artist's name. But for the record, Joual is a regional language in Quebec with many words borrowed from English and a special grammatical structure. It's not easy to understand if you're hearing it for the first time 😀 even if you speak French.

Pour ce Speak Joual, je ne connais pas le nom de l'artiste. Mais pour info, le Joual est une langue régionale au Québec avec beaucoup de mots empruntés à l'anglais et une structure grammaticale spéciale. Ce n'est pas évident à comprendre si on l'entend pour la première fois.

FontaineArt

*And we end this visit with Fontaine which served as the background for these two superb skulls. I like the contrast between the two styles. What's your favorite work?

Et on termine cette visite avec Fontaine qui a servi de fond à ces deux superbes têtes de mort. J'aime bien le contraste entre les deux styles. Quelle est votre œuvre préférée ?
