CCC's Street Art Contest #174 : Karen Hayes, Montreal

avatar

Here's my entry for the CCC's Street Art Contest #174. It's not for the mural, as the years have passed and its condition has deteriorated under the blows of rain, snow and sun. But it's for the sentence that surmounts these few colorful owls: "Art is born from one Graffiti to another " by artist and neighborhood resident Karen Hayes. I like it 👍

Very nice initiative by Karen Hayes, artist and local resident, who painted this alley to make it more pleasant. The mural dates from 2015, but the colors are still bright. Perfect for children to play and dream in this alley.

Annie Antonin & William DeBilzan

The wall opposite was painted in 2014 by Annie Antonin and William DeBilzan, an American artist who exhibits his paintings all over the world. I couldn't find any information about the making of this mural, I wonder how this artist chose to paint a wall in this alley 🤔.

And we finish with this mural, which has really suffered the passage of time. Well, it's not the mural itself, but the support that has suffered. What covered the wall has come loose over the years. It's a pity, because these fish look quite nice. No idea which artist done this mural, maybe his signature is hidden in the snow 😀.

There was also this very nice collage with the lyrics of the song Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) by the band Journey released in 1983. The music is good, but the clip is really 80's, especially when the 5 guys on a wooden pallet 😂, it's worth to be seen on YouTube.

Yep especially for the mural with the fishes. As I can't find the artist's name, I don't see a photo in its original condition.
Have a great Wednesday too.

I like the caterpillar and the farm scenes by Annie Antonin and William DeBilzan. I made the mistake of watching the Separate Ways video lol I've never really liked Steve Perry's look but without the long hair its really sad.

The clip has aged very badly. It's now funny to see it... but the music isn't so bad.
Enjoy your day.

Exactly, in Montreal , alleys are playgrounds for children, and this one, with these murals, is perfect.
Enjoy your day
