Book Review 📚| Her Merciless Protector (The Syndicates #3) (ENG/SPA)
For several weeks I wanted to change the genre of reading that I always choose because I had a lot of time reading fantasy books, which I love but I was already saturated, I needed to change a little. Dark Romance was making me eyes and a friend recommended me some of them.
I think it's important to clarify that dark romance is not synonymous with abuse, nor does it necessarily condone it. It is simply romance with deeper and rawer stories. And the level of rawness and violence depends on each author. Usually they are just romantic mobsters 😅
But back to the point, I started reading The Syndicates trilogy by author R.G. Angel. The first (Her Ruthless Warrior) is about a Yakuza, Japanese mob boss, the second (Her Heartless Savior) about the Italian mob boss, brother of the protagonist of the first book and the third (Her Merciless Protector) about the Irish mob boss. And although all three are related, the last one can easily be read without having read the previous two.
I'll tell you this time about the third "Her Merciless Protector", which was my favorite. And the story goes like this:
Killian Doyle is the Irish mob boss and his younger brother has decided to defect from the mob and live a different life by fleeing the country, but that's not possible because according to their customs, if you're born into a mobster family your fate is signed. There is no escape.
Killian finds him and to force him to comply with his wishes he kidnaps Iris, a friend of Finn's, as a guarantee that he will comply. The thing is, Iris is different. She has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and contrary to what most people think, Killian thinks she's amazing and with each passing day he dislikes the idea of letting her go.
And of course we already know how this story ends because Iris really feels comfortable with him and he respects her and doesn't underestimate her like the others.
From this book I would love to gleam the patience, affection and how beautiful Killian is with Iris, because I'm just a girl who loves romance, but apart from the romance I love to see the respect between two protagonists.
Iris is different and that doesn't make her stupid or a bad person, autistic people can lead a relatively normal life, they just need to have people close to them to help them in their adaptation process, plus psychological therapy, of course. But they are very intelligent people. Anyway, I don't want to go deeper into this topic because it is beyond my experience and knowledge.
I will only say that Iris is a really strong, intelligent and funny character.
The author narrated the whole story in such a respectful and accurate way that I fell in love. And there is nothing cuter than a man written by a woman.
Besides, I must admit that I have a weakness for "villains". Villains are not afraid to burn the world to save the woman they love, unlike a hero whose main interest is the greater good.
Killian is a romantic. Just read this sentence 🥺:
-Whatever I do, you see me as the villain, and I may be. I certainly am in this story. I kidnapped you, I blackmailed you, but did you even stop for a minute to think that maybe the villain would love you a lot more than the supposed prince ever could? That maybe the villain would treat you better??
And this one!
-Am I a queen?*
-You're my queen, at least if you let yourself be mine, and I'll fuck this world up if he, or anyone, tries to take you back.
-Be my queen, Iris.*
AND THIS ONE KILLED ME!
*-I want to marry you because I can't imagine my life without you. I don't think I could breathe without you or keep the darkness at bay. You changed my world in the scariest way when you became the center of it, but now it would crumble without you in it. I want to marry you because there is no happiness without you in my life, no true happiness at least. You are not only my queen, little bird, you are everything to me.
Oh no, really, what a beauty. More than a review this is just me fangirling and expressing my love for Killian Doyle.
If you want to start reading Dark Romance this would be a good start.

Desde hace varias semanas queria cambiar el género de lectura que siempre escojo porque tenía mucho tiempo leyendo libros de fantasía, que me encantan pero ya estaba saturada, necesitaba variar un poco. El Dark Romance me estaba haciendo ojitos y una amiga me recomendó algunos.
Creo que es importante aclarar que el dark romance no es sinónimo de abusos ni necesariamente se aprueben estos. Simplemente es romance con historias más profundas y crudas. Y el nivel de crudeza y violencia depende de cada autor. Usualmente solo son mafiosos románticos 😅
Pero volviendo al punto, empecé a leer la trilogía The Syndicates de la autora R.G. Angel. El primero (Her Ruthless Warrior) es sobre un Yakuza, jefe de la mafia japonesa, el segundo (Her Heartless Savior) sobre el jefe de la mafia italiana, hermano de la protagonista del primer libro y el tercero (Her Merciless Protector) sobre el jefe de la mafia irlandesa. Y aunque los tres están relacionados, el último se puede leer fácilmente sin haber leído los dos anteriores.
Les hablaré esta vez del tercero "Her Merciless Protector", que fue mi favorito. Y la historia va así:
Killian Doyle es el jefe de la mafia irlandesa y su hermano menor ha decidido desertar de la mafia y vivir una vida diferente huyendo del país, pero eso no es posible porque según sus costumbres, si naces en una familia de mafiosos tu destino está firmado. No hay escapatoria.
Killian lo encuentra y para obligarlo a cumplir con sus deseos secuestra a Iris, una amiga de Finn, como garantía de que él cumplirá. La cuestión es que Iris es diferente. Ella tiene TEA (Trastorno del Espectro Autista), y al contrario de lo que piensa la mayoría de las personas, Killian cree que ella es increíble y con cada dia que pasa le disgusta la idea de dejarla marchar.
Y por supuesto ya sabemos cómo termina esta historia porque Iris realmente se siente cómoda con él y él la respeta y no la subestima como los demás.
De este libro me encantaría relucir la paciencia, el cariño y lo hermoso que es Killian con Iris, porque solo soy una chica que ama el romance, pero aparte del romance amo ver el respeto que hay entre dos protagonistas.
Iris es diferente y eso no la hace estúpida o mala persona, las personas autistas pueden llevar una vida relativamente normal, solo deben tener personas cercanas que las ayuden en su proceso de adaptación, además de terapia psicológica, por supuesto. Pero son personas muy inteligentes. De todas formas no quiero profundizar en este tema porque escapa de mi experiencia y conocimiento.
Solo diré que Iris es un personaje realmente fuerte, inteligente y divertido.
La autora nos narró toda la historia de una forma tan respetuosa y acertada que quedé enamorada. Y es que no hay nada más lindo que un hombre escrito por una mujer.
Además, debo admitir que tengo debilidad por los "villanos". Los villanos no temen en quemar el mundo para salvar a la mujer que aman, al contrario de un héroe que su mayor interés es el bien común.
Killian es un romántico. Solo lean esta frase:🥺
—Haga lo que haga, me ves como el villano, y puede que lo sea. Ciertamente lo soy en esta historia. Te secuestré, te chantajeé, pero ¿te has parado siquiera un minuto a pensar que tal vez el villano te amaría mucho más de lo que jamás podría hacerlo el supuesto príncipe? ¿Que tal vez el villano te trataría mejor?
¡Y está!
—¿Soy una reina?
—Eres mi reina, al menos si te permites ser mía, y joderé este mundo si él, o cualquiera, intenta llevarte de vuelta.
—Sé mi reina, Iris.
Y ESTA QUE ME MATÓ
—Quiero casarme contigo porque no puedo imaginar mi vida sin ti. No creo que pueda respirar sin ti ni mantener a raya la oscuridad. Cambiaste mi mundo de la forma más aterradora cuando te convertiste en el centro de él, pero ahora se desmoronaría sin ti en él. Quiero casarme contigo porque no hay felicidad sin ti en mi vida, ninguna verdadera al menos. No solo eres mi reina, pajarito, lo eres todo para mí.
Ay no, de verdad, que belleza. Más que una reseña esta solo soy yo fangirleando y expresando mi amor a Killian Doyle.
Si quieren empezar a leer Dark Romance este sería un buen comienzo.

Hola amiga! la verdad que no exploré este género todavía, no es algo que me llame, pero le estuve echando ojitos a estos libros tras leer tu reseña jajaja. O sea, si me da curiosidad saber si me gustaran o no. No intente leerlos, pero no lo descargo. Puede ser interesante y la verdad es que ya leí un poco de todo, esta bueno cambiar el rumbo y sorprenderse con nuevas lecturas.

Mis hermanas morirían lentamente si leyeran este libro, jajajafs pero sin dudas yo lo amaría.
Esas historias donde el rudo más rudo, el malo, el que no tiene corazón, termina absolutamente enamorado y derretido por una mujer que para muchos no es la gran cosa pero para el representa la vida misma son el tipo de tramas que me gusta. Tanto en películas como en libros, aunque lo mío es más misterio y policial, pero sin dudas me encantaría leer esto.
