Swayambhunath Stupa, Nepal

Swayambhunath stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. It is in the capital city of Nepal that is, Kathmandu. It is also one of the oldest religious sites here.

And, its architecture is just amazing and quite different from other stupas and temples I have seen so far. There is a white dome in the base and then a cubical structure on top of it, where Buddha’s eyes are painted on all the four directions of the cube. And, above the cube there is a pentagonal toran on all the four sides with statues engraved in them. And in between these torans there are thirteen tiers.

This stupa is also known as monkey temple. Here, you can see hundreds of monkeys.
