HOOK, LINE AND ALMOST SUNKED
Mr Rox of RR constructions wasn't a man prone to angry outbursts, and he prided himself as a man who was levelheaded at all times. This made him not just a successful businessman but easily trusted by his colleagues and employees alike, as they all knew he didn't make rash decisions.
As Rox stared at the lady in front of him, he was almost wishing he wasn't so in control of his emotions. Julene had been his secretary for about five years and he'd come to depend on her word as gospel, which equally made it surprising as to what the lady in front of him was insinuating.
"I don't seem to understand you well enough" Rox said, which was the only thing he could think of to say.
"I think you understand me well enough, you're just yet to admit the truth I'm telling you"
"And what truth might that be? That somehow my trusted secretary is a spy for my biggest competition and she'd orchestrated my quarrel with my best friend"
From the knowing smile on her face, he realized she was either raving mad or she somehow believed her far-fetched story.
According to the lady who called herself Anna and who claimed to be a private investigator on behalf of Rob, Julene his secretary had been planted by his biggest opposition in the construction industry ALAN CONSTRUCTIONS and she'd somehow spent five years with him while working for the other side.
'Do you have any evidence to support this movie you're cooking here"
It took a few minutes to watch the video evidence she presented, but by the time he was done Rox knew he'd made a terrible mistake. As much as he was angry at Julene for betraying his trust and Alan for orchestrating such a devilish scheme, he was even more angry with himself for falling for their machinations. He'd lost his closest friend and he wasn't so sure he could get Rob to forgive him.
Rox and Rob had been best of friends since high school, Rox from a rich home and Rob from a struggling background. Although many playfully pointed out the fact that they could've been twins given how their names ryhmed, but it was how close they were that really surprised everyone.
You didn't see one without seeing the other and although Rox was a people's person and socially outgoing, Rob was the opposite and was bound to avoid anything that put him in the spotlight. The friendship worked and that was all that mattered.
Rox regularly found ways to include Rob in his social activities as his friend wasn't interested in anything that involved partying. They'd been at one of those parties when Rob pointed out a crack in the roof of the building and started talking about how he could design a better building. It didn't take long for Rox to realize that his friend was an absolute genius when it came to construction.
Upon finishing high school, Rox was able to convince Rob to go full time into building their own company. It was quite easy to convince his parents to finance them as his Dad was someone who didn't mind new ideas as long as you could convince him of the possibility of success. That was how RR constructions was born.
Rox as CEO dealt with the money aspect and people aspect, closing deal after deal. Rob on the other hand was the brains and there was never a shortage of new ideas on the projects they embarked on.
It took them a while but RR constructions soon became a big name in the industry. Julene came into the picture when Roxs former secretary got married and had to move away from the country. Julene soon proved she was quite capable of handling the job and it Rox began to find himself delegating tasks of very high importance to her without fear of any mistakes coming up.
Julene became his backbone and when she'd approached him with evidence of Rob's backdeals, it didn't take long for him to believe her. Rox knew Rob wasn't the type, but the evidence she presented showed his friend had been siphoning the company's funds into personal project's and the most damning evidence showed he might be trying to use the money to create his own company.
It was one of the moments where Rox's calm nature came in handy. Rox didn't make noise, but used his influence as CEO to kick Rob out of the company.
Now here was evidence that Julene his trusted secretary was in fact working against him all this while. Her motives were still unclear to him, but Alan's motives wasn't that hard to understand. With Rob gone, it had been quite hard to keep up momentum especially regarding new ideas for growth providing a vacuum for Alan constructions to capitalize upon.
It had been six months since he last spoke to his friend, but with shaky hands Rox picked up his phone and dialed Rob's number. Rob picked up on the first ring almost as if he'd been waiting for the call.
"I'm so so sorry ......"
"No need to explain bro. I'll always forgive you regardless of what it is"
"Where are you right now? We need to talk"
Rox barely finished his statement when he heard Julene from his office having a go at someone and shouting the word security. A few seconds later Rob walked in with Julene in tow.
"I tried to stop him sir, but he just wouldn't listen to me" she was saying as she walked in.
"There no need for that. As of this moment Julene, you're fired" Rox replied.
Turning to his friend he asked "Lunch?", and Rob nodded in the affirmative. Together with the private investigator Anna, they walked out of the office leaving the shocked Julene to wonder what had happened.
The security men arrived in that moment and Rox gave them orders to remove Julene from the building. He'd just gotten his best friend back, Julene was barely an afterthought.
It took a few adjustments, but Rob finally got his place back in the company. The company continued to grow with Ribs input and became one of the best construction companies in the industry.
Rox had learned a valuable lesson to always fact check information regardless of who was presenting it.
Evidence is powerful. He must lost his friend just because of that mistake.

Kicking Rob out without proper investigation was a terrible idea and it's a good thing that the secretary was exposed. You can tell Rob despite being accused wrongly still cared about his friend and RR construction.
