Hello Splinterlands Community, the recent update on the game was massive as there is now a way to use Gladius Cards in ranked battles which is never happened before as that set is exclusive available for Brawls only that is part of the guild. For this reason I will start sharing some of my opinions and thoughts on the cards that belongs to the Gladius Set starting with Trapp Falloway which is a great melee card that deals a huge amount of melee damage to the opponents.

About Trapp Falloway

Trapp Falloway is an epic death unit that deals melee damage to opponents and belongs to the Gladius Set. This card is not obtainable and rentable on the marketplace. The only way to be able to use this card is by acquiring it through opening Gladius Case which can be bought on the in-game store for 2000 Merits. The merits can be obtained by participating actively on guild brawls as well as from the rewards chest in the game.

The figure below shows the complete statistics of Trapp Falloway from Level 1 up to its maximum level of 6. It requires 46 cards in order to upgrade this card to its maximum level and it is a tough task considering that it can only be obtained by opening Gladius Packs in the game. Based on the figure above, I can say that upgrading this card to Level 4 would be good enough to increase the amount of health and melee damage it deals to the enemies. It also unlocks the third ability which is Halving that reduces the damage of its target monster by half. That ability is very powerful against opponents that deals a huge amount of damage which can turn the match around.

Rulesets

Trapp Falloway is a very solid offensive unit that deals a great amount of melee damage to opponents and can be buffed up when certain rulesets are present in the match where it should favor this unit. Since this card requires to be placed in the first position in order to strike each round, it needs to rely on the certain rulesets in the game wherein it could unleash its offensive firepower while not being placed in the first position or if it is durability is enhanced very well. There are certain rulesets in the game which I will share that should make Trapp Falloway worth to use not only in ranked battles but also on brawls as well.

Equal Opportunity

image.png

This ruleset is suits quite well with Trapp Falloway. The Equal Opportunity ruleset gives every monster in the battlefield the opportunity ability at the beginning of the match which makes them to target the monster of the opposing team which has the lowest amount of health. This allows Trapp Falloway to target the most vulnerable unit on the enemy team and with its massive melee damage it is almost a guarantee that it would take down its target unit.

Melee Mayhem

image.png

This ruleset favors well with Trapp Falloway. It allows all melee monster in the battlefield to strike each round regardless of its position in the team. It gives Trapp Falloway the ability to deal melee damage to opponents even if it is placed anywhere in the team. This helps Trapp Falloway to survive a bit longer in the battle as it would not take any damage at all unless this unit would be targeted by an enemy monster that has scattershot, snipe or opportunity ability.

Super Sneak

image.png

This ruleset also favors well with Trapp Falloway, it gives all monster in the battlefield the sneak ability at the start of the match. This ability causes all the monsters in the team with the exception on the monster that is in first position to target the enemy monster that is currently placed in the last position of the enemy team. This ruleset is somehow similar with the Equal Opportunity ruleset where both rulesets allows melee damage monsters that does not have sneak or opportunity ability to strike each round regardless of its position in the game.

Little League

image.png

This ruleset also fits quite well with Trapp Falloway. It only allows monster that has a cost of 4 mana or below to become usable in this type of match. Since Trapp Falloway costs 4 mana to use, it would still be available in the battle. The huge amount of melee damage that Trapp Falloway has, could make a difference in the battlefield if it is utilized very well.

Equaliser

image.png

This ruleset is useful for Trapp Falloway, it makes the initial health of all monsters in the battlefield equal to the health of the monster on either team with the highest base amount of health at the start of the match. Since Trapp Falloway does not have a huge amount of health, this unit would benefit a lot from this ruleset most especially if the enemy team uses a monster that has a massive amount of health.

Summoners

Selecting the appropriate summoner that will be used in the battle is a challenge. It requires a careful planning not only on what summoner should be used in the battle but also on the monsters from that element that will compliment well with Trapp Falloway. Since Trapp Falloway is a death gladius unit, it can be played using any death or dragon summoners in Brawls as well as death summoners in ranked battles where that summoner has the ability to use one gladius card in the match. I mostly use Chaos Legion Cards, Gladius Cards, Reward Cards and some starter cards that are playable in my battles, which is why I am going to share my choices on the summoners that belongs in those said sets where I am very familiar with and already have experienced playing it on ranked battles in a long time, that I think should be a good choice whenever you're planning to use Trapp Falloway in battles.

Octavia Shadowmeld

image.png

This summoner is the best choice you can use when playing Trapp Falloway in ranked battles. It is a death summoner that decreases the health of all enemy monsters by 1 at the start of the match. It also allows you to use one Gladius Card in the battle which is very useful in the battle. These Gladius Cards all have the Bloodlust ability which makes the card more powerful as it takes down enemy units and using those cards in the ranked battle would make your climb more easier.

Helios Matriarch

image.png

This summoner is also a good choice if you're planning to use Trapp Falloway in ranked battles. It is a dragon summoner that increases the speed of all your units at the beginning of the match. It also allows you to use one Gladius Card in the battle just like Octavia Shadowmeld. The only difference between the two summoner is that, this summoner allows you to use dragon element units in the battle which is also useful when planning the team composition.

Thaddius Brood

image.png

This summoner is a great choice if you're planning to use Trapp Falloway in brawls. It is a death summoner that decreases the health and magic damage of all enemy units at the beginning of the match. Trapp Falloway would not be available using this summoner in ranked battles but it would be usable if this summoner is used in brawls. The Trapp Falloway benefits from the health debuff of this summoner to the enemy team as it makes the enemy more vulnerable and would allow Trapp Falloway to take down the enemy unit more easier.
