BoTD: One Round Victory

BoTD.png

Hello fellow Splinterlands players and those who just want to read about it. 😉

With the proposal for adjusted rewards on card levels about to pass I decided to level up my deck to gold league ahead of schedule. Once that was done I went in there and had some exciting battles, one of which I am about to share with you.

Battle Conditions

I was reorganizing my cards and liberated some older ones from my pure rental account to dip my toe into wild waters.

In this 23 mana cap battle there was only Death splinter allowed and healing was not an option. Stampede was included in the ruleset, so trample ability could trigger multiple times, as long as enemy monsters were taken out with one hit.

Lineup

It will be Death splinter, no doubt. And my only decent Death summoner is Thaddius Brood. There is a high chance that my opponent is facing a similar decision so I will not rely on magic since that will suffer a heavy debuff. Instead I have another plan.... evil laughter muahahaha

CardComment
Thaddius BroodAs mentioned, my only choice at this point. Debuffs the enemy's health and magic attack.
Undead RexxIt has trample! And brings 11 health points. Since healing is off, Cursed Windeku and Haunted Spirit lose a lot of value.
Creeping OozeI want to slow down the other team. Also a good bait for snipers and opportunists. I need it to protect at least against one hit for the next card should survive at least one round.
Fallen SpecterFor only two mana a flying high speed monster with one magic attack and demoralize debuff to reduce the other teams melee attack by one. Creeping Ooze should protect it for at least one hit, high speed flying should protect against melee opportunity with a 50% chance.
Undead PriestBrings one magic attack and weaken reduces the health of every enemy monster by one point.
Weirding WarriorOnly one range attack but shatter will take care of any armor on the opposing tank
UraeusBackline protection with its one armor and an attack on the enemy's backline itself.

Did you figure out my plan?

Thaddius and Undead Priest bring together a two point debuff on the enemy's health. Weirding Warrior is the same speed as Undead Rexx but as an archer it will attack first.

Thaddius reduces the magic attack while Fallen Specter reduces the melee attack of my opponent. My only weakness left is ranged attackers.

So with reduced health and shattered armor it might be enough for Undead Rexx to take out the opposing tank which should trigger trample for another attack. With the opposing attack weakened it will hopefully survive until the next round to do it all over again.

With only 23 mana available, there should either be only two bigger monsters in there, which should then be taken out, or many little ones and stampede will take care of that, by triggering trample multiple times.

Let us see what happens:

Meet The Other Team

Watch the Battle

Oh this will be interesting. Because of the void my magic attacks will do nothing. I would need at least an attack of 2 to do some damage.

The Scavo Hireling will repair the armor every round but because of the camouflage my Uraeus can not attack it.

The blast from the Scavo Technomancer will take out my backline one after the other while the Venari Bonesmith will pump up its health through life leech.

Round 1

And it's over.

That was fast. What happened?

After all the debuffs were applied it looked like this:

debuffs.PNG

Creeping Ooze slows the other team down so that all my attackers have their turn first.

Fallen Specter's magic attack does nothing because of the void.

Then Weirding Warrior shatters the armor.

Uraeus takes out Venari Bonesmith.

And the rest of the other team is taken out by Undead Rexx going on a trample stampede, which was made possible by the reduced health.

Reflection

Wow, that worked perfectly. The complete team was taken out without having one attack turn themselves. But I have to admit, it was pure luck. Any other higher health tank would have put me in trouble if paired with some cheap sneakers.

Had my opponent thrown in a few typical Death debuffs, things might have turned out different.

With these thoughts I thank you very much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this battle as much as I have while playing it and writing about it and leave you with a final word of our sponsor today: 😉
