See Paintings and Sculptures from the 8th Century at the Agung Rai Museum of Art and Arts in Bali, Indonesia
Hi Everyone!, how are you all? Hope everything will be fine.
Today I visited the Agung Rai Museum of Art, the Agung Rai Museum of Art or also known as the museum (ARMA) is a Balinese art and fine museum, or more precisely located in Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali Province, Indonesia. Inside the Bali Arts and Fine Arts museum displays a large collection of paintings painted by the best painters from within the country and abroad. Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro was the first person to inaugurate this museum on June 9, 1996. The entrance fee to the Agung Rai art museum is 100 thousand rupiah per person, 100 thousand rupiah. . The Agung Rai Museum of Art and Fine Arts is not only a museum, but in it we can see performing arts such as music, dance, theater and visualization of history and paintings here. Inside the visitors can also learn to paint, draw, then there is also a bookstore and reading room for visitors. Among the paintings or works exhibited in this museum are classic Kamasan paintings carved on bark, masterpieces by rock artists from the 1930s to 1940s, works by Raden Saleh Syarif Bustaman, Walter Spies, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad, Ida Good for you, Anak Agung Gede Sobrat, I Gusti Deblog, Willem Gerald Hofker and Adrien Le Mayeur De Merpres.
However, outside of this museum you will see many statues that are decades old from century to century which were carved during the times of the kingdoms in Bali, it is estimated that these statues and sculptures date from the 8th century. However, these statues have been renovated to be better and better, such as the turtle statue which was renovated to be able to emit water in the pond that has been made.
There are several sculptures that have their own symbols:
Turtle Statue
This turtle statue is symbolized as ordinary people who are sometimes weak and often get injustice in their lives, but with their hard shells these ordinary people can go through many problems in their lives. The monkey above is symbolized as a people whose life is well-off, who can live happily above the suffering of turtles or ordinary people.
Frog Statue
The statue of a frog holding a drum is a symbol of performances in the past, there are many kingdoms in Bali that always perform artistic performances such as dances and songs, turtles are creatures that like to make sounds, so it is also likened to artists and painters who can always create meaningful work.
Boar Statue
The statue of a wild boar wearing a dress, this is a symbol of the royal guard, the wild boar is a fierce and violent animal, so it is symbolized for the guards that existed in a past life.
Peacock Statue
This statue is symbolized as the generosity of the royal people in the past, the peacock is an animal that walks with its chest elevated, this is called the generous character possessed by royal people in the past.
Devil Statue
This statue is a symbol of darkness and evil, this statue is a reminder not to do evil and always to do good wherever we are.
Not only about some of the statues above, in the courtyard of this museum there are also beautiful flowers and lakes that can be seen from the front of the Agung Rai Bali art museum.
