The truth is not everytime that we centrally think we can corrupt the police. There still very nice and disciplined police men out there and as nature willing, it was demonstrated in this your story.
That serves him right, he should perish with the gravity of his offense for that is the hall mark of Justice.

They recklessly turn the system to a market of the highest bidder. To them, if it is not money, then it is more money. Caution are thrown ti the winds when buying their ways through the system.
Like you said, we have the incorruptible policemen that are ready to uphold the principle of justice.
