The One dollar dinosaur, at least one of them.

  I love animals, but not only the animals of today. I also love the animals that existed a long time ago. Canada Mint is very creative and always keeps updating their circulating coins but also their uncirculated as well. Before I showed some nice silver coins, they used dinosaurs as the main figures in the reverse. This post will be a bit different not focusing on silver or gold. Since I have two silver ounces coming soon in the mail, I will focus on one purchase that was as great as any precious metal for my collection. I was searching on eBay for dinosaur coins and saw that the Royal Australian Mint does the same. In addition, they released in 2022 a set of 4 Australian dinosaurs circulating coins with their silver versions, which I couldn’t find online for now.

  However, the one-dollar circulating coins with the four dinosaurs aren’t difficult to find. The hard is finding a good price and shipping. Since Australia is far the shipping also isn’t very cheap. However, I found a seller that sold me for a total of 11 AUD, which is almost 1:1 to CAD. Well, it is an irony of buying 1 dollar for 11 dollars. But what else I could do? EBay is a source of temptation and luxury.While I was looking for the rest of the coins in this collection to see more info about it to write this post, I ended up looking at other coins nothing related that I wanted to buy and the temptation to click the buy bottom was huge. Well, I didn't buy anything for now, I could control myself.

  The coin that I got had the Diamantinasaurus. This giant lizard lived in the late Cretaceous and he was a quadrupedal herbivore like some other similar dinosaurs like Brachiosaurus and Brontosaurus. His size was up to 15 meters. The long neck is characterized by individuals from this clade Titanosauria which Diamantinasaurus belongs. The purpose of this big neck was to achieve the big trees that used to exist in that era. Those trees were the source of food for these animals. This dinosaur was first found in Queensland, northwest of the country.

  The circulating one dollar has an Aluminum bronze composition (92% Copper,6% aluminum, and 2% Nickel). The other three dinosaurs are The Australovenator, the Kumbarrasaurus, and the Elaphrosaurine. All of them have Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse of the coin. Looking on eBay I found many other commemorative Australian dollars with different topics. I think their mint is also creative and always releasing new circulating coins which is awesome for collectors. It is a pity that we need to cross the seas to reach the country and I don't know many Australians around my neighborhood.

  I am willing to buy the other 3 coins of this collection, I don't know when or how maybe wishing someone that I meet soon is from Australia has in their pockets? I would love to go to Australia as well, but I know that now the chances are pretty low on my end. I know that some members of the SGS community are from Australia maybe we can swap some circulating coins from both countries.

  A moeda que recebi tinha o Diamantinasaurus. Este gigante lagarto viveu no final do Cretáceo e era um herbívoro quadrúpede como alguns outros dinossauros semelhantes, como o Brachiosaurus e o Brontosaurus. Seu tamanho era de até 15 metros. O longo pescoço é caracterizado por indivíduos deste clado Titanosauria ao qual o Diamantinasaurus pertence. O propósito deste grande pescoço era alcançar as grandes árvores que costumavam existir naquela era. Essas árvores eram a fonte de alimento para esses animais. Este dinossauro foi encontrado pela primeira vez em Queensland, no noroeste do país.

  A moeda de um dólar em circulação tem uma composição de bronze de alumínio (92% de cobre, 6% de alumínio e 2% de níquel). Os outros três dinossauros são o Australovenator, o Kumbarrasaurus e o Elaphrosaurine. Todos eles têm a Rainha Elizabeth II no anverso da moeda. Procurando no eBay, encontrei muitos outros dólares australianos comemorativos com diferentes temas. Acho que sua casa da moeda também é criativa e sempre está lançando novas moedas em circulação, o que é incrível para colecionadores. É uma pena que precisamos cruzar os mares para chegar ao país e não conheço muitos australianos ao redor do meu bairro.

  Estou disposto a comprar as outras 3 moedas desta coleção, não sei quando ou como, talvez desejando que alguém que eu conheça em breve seja da Austrália tenha nos bolsos deles? Eu adoraria ir para a Austrália também, mas sei que agora as chances são bem baixas do meu lado. Eu sei que alguns membros da comunidade SGS são da Austrália, talvez possamos trocar algumas moedas em circulação de ambos os países.
