The Kookaburra silver and some collection updates.

Finally I got a batch of silver, all at the same time. I bought more silver from @bulliontools which I appreciate for the business, the price was amazing and I got my first goldbacks. However, the Canadian Border Officers just decided to send me a message, they only missed sending the Vaseline to help digest this "message". They charged 14 CAD in taxes saying that there were glassware (valued 75 CAD) and books (Valued at 21 CAD). I bought 4 goldbacks and 2 silvers ( one oz and a half one). Well anyways, I will show next time these new acquisitions. Today I will bring a nice 1oz Silver that belongs to the classic world silver collection ( I named that but for sure it doesn't have this name). Every country has classical silver coins, here in Canada we have the Maple Leaf, in the US the Silver Eagle, perhaps the Liberty and Morgans also can be considered as that. This one is from Australia. We are talking about the classic Kookaburra from Australia. Kookaburra is a bird from the group of the Kingfishers, but like any Australian animal, we should expect that these animals have different characteristics. They indeed have. Different from their cousins Kingfishers, they are only terrestrial, they don't feed in the water. I like the Australian way of representing their fauna in their classical silver, in addition to the Kookaburra, you can find the Kangaroo or Koala silver in your local traders. In addition to that, they have a very interesting dolphin collection, which of course is on my wishlist The last coin from this collection is called the rough-toothed dolphin. But the collection also has other species of dolphins that I was used to identifying when I worked in the biology field. I can talk about this collection in another post though.

I bought the Kookaburra on eBay, it was 32 CAD and 10 CAD for the shipping, summing the total is usually the full price of a regular 1oz silver. And it is in a nice condition. The mint is from last year 2023 and still has the dead queen on it. The reverse has two beautiful animals and the name of the animal is different and with styled writing. The coin was minted by the famous Perth Mint which also produces some interesting coins from other Oceania countries. The design comes also with a bonus, a flower called waratah, which is also native to that part of the world. This flower in real life has a bright reddish or pinkish color. The total mint of the coin is 500k coins, which is high and it explains why this coin is so popular. After this acquisition, I can do a checkmark on my collection. Finally, I have an Australian silver coin which I was looking for. It isn't difficult to find them around here at least these more famous, including the Kangaroo, maybe because we are common-wealth brothers.
