A Smile After the Surgery: A Happy Memory from the Hospital

When ever we think of Hospital the immediate thought come into our mind is the illness, smell of drug, the sad faces of people etc. No doubt the hospital is not a fun place but that does not means that we can not have any good or happy memories their. I completely agreed they most of our Happy memories belong to the place where we live i.e. home, restaurants and vacation and a hospital is a place here most visited by the patient or the relatives of the patient, another were mostly the working staff of hospital. I can imagine a happy moment in the hospital is when someone come out of a danger from any illness, the happy faces of the on loved once or patients tell their story itself. I do not want to visit the hospital and I guess non of us want the same. If we got the news of someone admitted in the hospital then this becomes the tensed moment for us. Today let me share a happy moment I experienced in the hospital.

If I remember it rightly then it was the year of 2019 when my parents visit us. I was in western part of the country because of my job. My father was suffering form the knees pain form quite a long time and his eyes sight was also become weaker. The knee pain does not have any link with the eye sight but mentioned it to share his condition that time. We give visit to system specialist and he confirmed that my father has cataracts and suggest the surgery. He also ensure that it's not required immediately. My father preferred to go for eye surgery at our native place only so we decided to take the advice of knee specialist also as were were in one of the metro city of country where the hospitals have all new technologies to cure the patients. Another reasons for not to go for the system surgery was that the cataract surgery is very common and has good success rate in our state also so we do not require any famous doctor with good track record. But when it's comes to the knee replacement surgery it's bit complicated and we were knowing that it's also bit difficult to get a good doctor near to our native place so we decide to meet a specialist here itself.

I consulted some of my office colleague also in this regard to get an idea of doctors near to me and this help me a lot to choose the hospital. A person experience of other people matters a lot to buit trust. I took the appointment by calling to the reception and we went to the hospital next day as per schedule. It was first time I was visiting and my first experience was very nice as we get a proper assistant form the main entrance itself. As we take prior appointment so the waiting was very less. My father was quiet nervous at first but he was much comfortable after meeting the doctor. The doctor examine and suggested the knee replacement surgery as we expected. My father shown hesitation but the doctor take his in confidence by showing the case studies of the patient he operated in the past. Doctor was holding a lot of experience in knee replacement surgery and performed more then hundred of surgeries till now. One article he shown published in the newspaper about one surgery done by him of a old age patient which was already gone through the surgery twice but does not able to stand on her legs. They come to the doctor by some reference and her performed the successful surgery of him. My father was not shown the confidence and agreed for the surgery.

We admitted one day before the surgery as instructed and get all test done. All was well so the doctor performed the surgery next day. They took my father out of operation theater after almost 2 hour. He was conscious, when move him in the room where they were shifted after surgery. The first expressing he shown was smile which fill my heart with great pleasure and happiness. We were in the hospital for 5 days but honestly I am thankful to the staff for the care they taken for my father. My father was completely recover in almost month time and the pain was also gone.
