Hussitenfest - The Festival of Bernau bei Berlin
Last weekend I participated at the Hussite Festival. That event takes place in Bernau bei Berlin on the second weekend, this time 9th to the 11th of June. It has been organised since 1992 and this year marked the 30th anniversary of the festival. The main festival and its events happen in the city park of Bernau. Some are in the old town, the historical centre.
Bernau won the battle with help of the Bernauer brigands back in 1432.
Friday is the opening at the Gate of Rocks at 4.30 pm, the gate of the old town's stone wall.
From 6 to 7 pm, the Bernau Brigands will hold a brief procession around the city's restaurants and pubs to get hold of beer kegs for their camp on the festival.
The traditional beer keg looting begins on the grounds of the festival, leads through the old town and back to the festival. Pubs and restaurants already have provided the beer kegs as they will lose the fight for it for sure. The brigands are well-trained, armed knights. And love beer to death.
Saturday morning from 11 am is the historical parade. Participants represent traditional, historical and a lot of acts like juggling and music.
On Sunday at 5 pm is the big final battle. It's loud, many fights and music.
Have you ever heard about the Flugträumer?
They have been participated for many years on these ground too. Great artists in many ways.
I didn't take many pictures of the festival. That was for one beautiful reason.
This Family:
...took me in their rows.
Spontaneously and improvised, I found a great part where I could do something useful and fitting.
A rope and two blocks of wood was all to entertain the people. We used that as an intro of their show, the show of DeFundus, Devi-Dance and together with father-son team, they are Die Kulturbanausen, which means The Philistines.
My part was a game of pure balance and kind of tag of war.
All you have to do is stand on the wooden block and hold on the rope, don't fall of your block and don't let go of the rope. I always say; It's give and take.
I was many times, for many years, on that festival. Mostly working and participating at the youth club's booth.
This year was the first time without it. Many friends and people didn't come because of that. I was also thinking about not coming. Luckily that, I decided to go and visit my good old friends from the juggle corner.
I was so happy and felt very connected to them. I could help them, not only drinking beer, but also with their show and more.
Not only that, I enjoyed it so much that I didn't make it to the Web3 fair and HiveMeetUp in Berlin. I was very between the two worlds, until I found my place on Friday.
Now some of my highlights, their fantastic work and art they do.
The Black Smith at Work.

Relaxing time at the wooden bath tub.
After the festival. Well-used.
After a good shower. Relaxed.
At the end, something funny. Someone's trophy. A riding and shooting vulva.
Will we see each other next year? Come and enjoy with us. Its better in real life.
This looks like a great festival. That photo of the lady fire dancing just before the video looks like Shiva, what a fantastic photo! Aren't you glad that you decided to go? You would have missed out if you hadn't.
Glad you got to soak in the tub, those toes were so dirty lol.
Have to ask, my curiosity will eventually get me killed - but why did they use a vulva for the shooting trophy? That's fucking hilarious.
Totally! She is a beautiful dancing Shakti 😉
I'm very glad about my decision.
With those toes I couldn't win a feet model application... Or? Maybe?
😝
Not at all! Your question is perfect valid. Because I can't answer your that question as I asked myself the same one.
Thank you for your feedback 🙏🏽😌
