XII Apostles. Leigh.
With the development and expansion of the Lancashire coalfields in the late 19th century, thousands of Irish immigrants flooded the area in search of work. The Bishop of Liverpool saw that this was an opportunity to create new religious openings to serve the immigrant catholic population. A school and church were built.
In 1927 a new church and church house was built.
C'mon
Let's mooch
This church is on the tourbus route, happily not vandalised, but wooden boards conveniently ripped off by someone allowing a snake like slithering entry.
It was cold, the emptiness had sucked all the warmth from the buildings fabric, meagre late winter sunshine , the sun low in the sky, watery offered little.
Just a tad late with this I think, I checked: it was empty
The Red Rose, the emblem and flower of Lancashire just about hanging in there, the kids round here have got pretty crap stone throwing skills
In August 2019 the last masses were announced for the XII Apostles and then the doors were closed for good.
Unless one slithers like a snake

Have you downgraded your gear, images are very small? Word on the street is the house is now open.
...'It must have felt left out and decided to open itself'...
are they? I have been messing about in the editing suite, that could be it, thanks for the heads up!
too far to return i think
The problem is whatever you used has drastically reduced the pixel size.
weird, they should be coming up as 1280 x 850 saved as such, i need to look into this, as when I am now uploading and selecting images peak/hive defaults 600 x 399.
Same hard wooden benches we had to endure, wonder if that has changed in this modern world? Roses on window panes to give you something to look at, brief glimpse of escape as soon as able.
Another piece of history waiting to explore.
!BEER
I know what you mean, forced by god bothering parents to attend church, sunday school into my early teens. Drove me even further away.
Haven't been in one "officially" for over 40 years! I don't need an imaginary friend
But climbing through windows doesn't count, does it?
We attended as youngsters, Dad went Mom didn't, also gave my sons opportunity to make their own minds up, not something I feel should be thrust on anyone it is an individual decision.
Climbing through windows cannot count, doubt baptisms, weddings and funerals count either. Amazing how many never go, yet on death family feel the need to push you through that route.
I agree, I have written my will that it is to be a civil ceremony. No god botherers allowed!
😂ditto!

.Are churches sold? 😛 And since when do they sell it? Are you going to buy it? Did you come in? It looks like it is... I feel like I'm very questioning. You don't have to answer me. 🤣
Of course I shall answer you , In UK many many churches are abandoned, the medium sized and smaller ones are sold to property developers and they convert them into expensive houses.
The bigger ones are often protected by law so cannot be demolished and as it is way way to expensive to repair and renovate they are just left to rot.
No I have my own little man cave so am happy and will not be buying
😂
Thank you. Haces bien. Las energías en esos lugares son de dudosa procedencia.
