Aracena, Spain.......no bacon just bits.

Aracena a small town in southern Spain, with a population of about 8,000, you turn up and find that one of its foremost attractions is a museum of ham!

I kid you not, El Museo del Jamón de Aracena consisting of seven rooms following the history, and traditions surrounding the famous Iberian pigs! Fascinating, no free samples, give it a miss.

Another of its attractions are a series of under ground caves, Gruta de las Maravillas. I visited, splendid! No photography allowed. Crap.

Lets take a stroll.

Aracena´s Open-Air Museum was established in 1986 due to the passion and lobbying of a local sculptor Pepe Noja.

Currently the exhibition is made up of about fifty sculptures by prestigious artists; they are situated in various spots around the town.

The art work has totally transformed the old St. Peter’s Square, where we are.

A variety of forms, structures and materials, sculpted, forged or cast as the artist sees fit.

Lavadero Fuente de Concejo, was an important work just off the square of San Pedro. It was inaugurated in 1927. The laundry being supplied by an existing spring.

No washer women about today, they must all be at home doing the hoovering and dusting.

Or sitting in the park smoking fags.

Definitely cancelled now.
