Old Wood

Last year I rediscovered my love for wooden textures and trees in general. My photo archive is organized by date rather than by motif so I have to go through thousands of images to find what I've got on wood. Here are some nice examples of beautifuly weathered driftwood I just stumbled upon. I'm using parts of these photos as references for paintings of my Trees series, like my latest piece Embrace which I posted here recently.
I took these photos in the Höllental Valley in Lower Austria with my Nikon D800.

These are great photos. I can relate to trying to find stuff in the archives.
I am late doing this now, but for some time I have been adding keywords in the file info in Photoshop, plus titles and copyright info. Secondly, I had been uploading a lot of my photos to Flickr. I got a pro account with unlimited storage, and searching for files on there is really super: the whole exif data is shown (a drop down menu) and if you had added keywords, titles etc, you could easily find it on Flickr in a search. Like, if I had 'wood' in the keywords and I input wood into a search, it would show me all my photos that contain the keyword in a result called 'Your Photos' and/or 'Your Albums', but underneath you get also relevant results from anyone else!

now I need to add more stuff off my drives - so far I have only a small number (22,428 Photos), so much needs to be done. But most of my artwork is on there.
Another advantage is that you can embed albums from there on your website(s).
I’ve been trying to tag my photo library precisely so I can find things again, but it is one of those things that is very low on the to do list with an even lower chance of surfacing 💀
Wood textures are great, I’m finding the ripples in the second last shot particularly fascinating.
