Neglecting The Roots That Sustained Us.
Some of us are allowing our parents die of loneliness because we refuse to give them the attention after we get married and start our own family.
We can stay for a few days without calling our parents, but we cannot stay a second without calling our spouses. Don't get me wrong I am not trying to say you should not show love to your spouse, we just easily forget our roots which is our parents.

Without a root a tree is lifeless
No matter how beautiful and fruitful a the tree might be when it is been cut off from it's root it produces nothing and dies slowly.
Like the root and tree, our family is our root, in order to do well we must not disconnect ourselves from our root which is our parents.
Our spouse is the fruit, we are the tree while our parents are the roots, if the fruits goes down with the help of the root it can still bear more fruit, but if the root is cut down, that is the end of the tree and it's fruit bearing.
Never cut off your parents, no matter how busy you might be with your works and personal family, always check up on them and show them that they still matters to you more than anything else. Most of the times what they need is just your care and love because they are getting old, the same way you needed their care when you were a child and weak.
Your wife or husband might decide to leave anyday and seize to be your partner, but your parents are always your parents home and abroad.
Always love up on your parents so that you will continue to grow and bear more fruit.
Just a short reminder.
I appreciate you for the time.

You are totally right. Sometimes we tend to forget them, and focus more on our spouse or kid, not knowing that the clock is ticking for us to still be able to see them.
