The issue of insecurity in Nigeria which has brought untold hardship on the citizens of the country is growing at an increasing rate. It’s quite unfortunate that this worrisome situation has buried so many people’s dreams and terminated many lives and destinies, the citizen’s fundamental right to life and freedom of movement which is stated in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria has been infringed upon by the different insurgencies causing many people to panic.

Foreign investors who would have invested their money in the country are discouraged due to fear of loss and business setbacks, this has also contributed negatively to the increase in unemployment rate and poverty.
In the last three (3) month, it is worthy of note that more than two hundred and thirty (230) people have been killed in Nigeria with the figure increasing by the day. The outrageous killings in Nigeria by Boko Haram, Herdsmen, Bandits, unknown gunmen and the likes has left several people living in fear, citizens no more sleep with dear eyes closed. Farmers can no more do their farming activities without fear and this has led to reduction in overall Agricultural productivity. Furthermore, it is recorded that Kaduna state topped the list with 72 killings while Zamfara state dead toll stood at 64 and Borno state, 29. This is base on Sunday punch findings. Thus, in a span of (3) months (between 9th December 2022 and 9th March 2023), the incessant attacks by terrorists’ groups had occurred in 13 states. However, other state listed below are; Anambra state, 24,

Benue state,16, Niger, 7, Delta, 6, Abia, 4, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi and Ogun; 3 each and Lagos, 2. Among the victims of this massacre were civilians, priest, politicians, several officers of the Nigerian police force, Nigeria security and civil defense corps etc.

The attack which took place at Mukdolo village in the Gamborun Ngala local Government area of Borno state happens to be the latest which sent no fewer than 29 fishermen to their early grave and left nine others severely wounded. According to unknown source in Gamborun Ngala, the fishermen were attacked by terrorists riding on motorcycles while on their fishing and wood-cutting activities on Wednesday evening. This was confirmed by the Borno State police command, Sani Kamilu. Furthermore, On January 9, unknown gunmen concealed an attack and terminated the lives of seven personnel of the security and civil defense corps alongside five other security agencies as well as local security services attached to the Kaduna state Ministry on Mines and made away with their rifles.

Also, on 10th January 2023, three males and a pregnant woman were murdered in Eziani community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state. In Niger state, Rev. Father Isaac Achi who happens to be the parish priest was killed and varying degree of injury was mounted on his assistance, Father Collins. The bandits after perpetrating such heinous act did not hesitate to set the catholic Parish House ablaze.
On Sunday, December 18, sixty-four persons lost their lives in a deadly airstrike carried out by the Nigerian military plane in Mutumji community, Maru Local Government area of Zamfara state, though the attack was intended to repel the terrorists but unfortunately, civilians were also affected including women and children.

Lastly, the local vigilance groups, popularly known as “Yansakai” from 11 villages in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina state were ambushed on February 2, 2023. The hoodlums shot and killed 41 Yansakai and wounded two others, this was reported to the newsmen by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Gambo Isah, on Friday.

Therefore, with the insurmountable number of incessant killings in Nigeria which proves so impossible to be completely eradicated, nevertheless, given a good government in power and the right policies in place, I strongly belief that this country will be able to single-handedly tackle insecurity and eliminate all insurgencies as well as resuscitating her economy and credit worthiness.
