A pleasant day to all of us Aseanhivers, I had a great time when I decided to visit an abandoned bay walk areas near at Barangay Calangahan, Lugait Misamis Oriental. There are lot of changes happens because of the weather hits the place. It was also very interesting to explore and know about the areas on how the bay walk turned into a coastal areas and submerged by sea water. This article and blog I've created today served as a quick tour to all of us and experience how beautiful and relaxing it was. So let's begin our Quick tour.

An Abandoned Bay Walk Site:

3 in the afternoon when I planned to visit this place, one of the reason why I take to visit that time is to see the sunset and take some pictures. Our elders told us about this areas and they said that this place was once a bay walk spot on which lots of people walking in this place bringing their goods to be carried and transferred to other Municipalities. This black spots was once as an asphalt road and it connects between the two Barangays of Misamis Oriental, the Barangay Punta Silum and Barangay Calangahan. This place was once a hiding areas to all rebel enemies who walk on the top road of this Barangay, this bay walk cannot be seen by enemies easily that time. A long and winding road filled with asphalt and some metal poles on it are completely gone.

For many years passing by, the weather changes a lot and the waves started to rising up everyday until the bay walk place was totally submerged by sea water. The areas were filled with asphalt has now vanished and washed out by water and the only thing left are the big and wide corals were the asphalt placed. Sea shells and crabs are now inhabited the place and some pebbles are also washed out and landed it there. Big chunk of stones rolled down from the top was also in here and every hightide, the areas was really completely swallowed by sea water.

There are some hard wood trees and coconut plants located near at the abandoned bay walk. Some of it are leaning towards the sea because of the strong winds happens here everytime when there is a bad weather. Trees like amacai, Balete and Molave tree faded its leaves and falled to the ground because of the strong winds. I noticed during my travel adventure that some of the coconut plants does not produced any fruits even if it already grows tall and ready to produced coconut fruits. Lots of birds perching on the tree branches and some of it are building its nests, this area was once an open field and there are few stores built here near at the abandoned bay walk.

A Dog at the Shore:

At the middle of my traveling adventure, I also noticed this dog walking at the shore searching for any foods to eat. Dogs hunt for fish for their foods and it is really normal in here specially during low tide. Lots of small fish at the rock pools trapped and shrimps. This dog was very busy searching for any foods and I really enjoyed watching this dog hunting its prey. Sometimes when I visited the areas, I seen 5 dogs running at the shore searching and smelling in the big rocks to see if they have something to catch and something to eat. Lots of rock pools and big rocks can be found at the place that is why I walked slowly and gently.

A Rock Pool and A Seaweeds:

This areas were rock pools and seaweeds was once a wide bay walk road. It completely destroyed by sea water creating this rock pools and seaweeds grows at the stones. Lots of small fish hid in the pool and that what the dogs searching about. I totally imagined how weather changes and destroyed the place, it really predicts that everytime the sea water rises and reached those dried areas and submerged in the sea water.

A Beautiful Sunset:

Thats a really rocky shore , but If I have a place like that near me, I wont mind the rocks, just the sea breeze and the sunset is enough to appreciate it.

It’s really saddening to see our nature that is distracted by climate change and it’ll never come back.
