Daily Post: Visiting My Grandparents In Sitio Makawa in Naawan, Misamis Oriental
First, I passing by in this wide rice field located at Barangay Poblacion Manticao. I was very amazed of this greenery place because of the grains growing at the rice field. It is very easy to locate this place because it is near at the National Road. A 24 hectares of land was already cultivated and turned into a wide rice field. The water channel of this place is through irrigation projected by National Irrigation Administration.
It takes a few minutes of traveling from Barangay Punta Silum going to Barangay Poblacion. As I arrived at the place, I started to have a long walking adventure going to the Sitio. It also takes a few hours of non-stop walking before I arrived at this steel bridge. This structure was donated by the big Television networks and companies here in the Country. This is very helpful and important to all residents here so that they can still be able to cross the river even if there is a flood. It is made of solid steel and the only vehicles can cross in here are Motorcycle and Bikes.
Under this bridge is the Manticao river, as the intense heat brought by the summer continues, the water level keeps decreasing, some parts of the river was completely dried up and it keeps decreasing when this intense heat continues. There are lots of children playing here at this place, taking for a swim and catching fish and shrimps for their meals.
My Grandparent's Manggoe Farm:
After a few hours of walking, I finally arrived at my Grandparent's place. After hugging to my Grandma and Grandpa, we do a proper conversation and greeted with each other. Its been a long time since I did not visited them due to a busy situations. After our conversation, I hurriedly explored this place filled with manggoe trees. Every month of September, there are lots of people who came from the city doing a spraying methods so that this tree can produce more fruits. After that, when there are already fruits, they will started to covered it with Paper. After that, when the harvesting season reach, they get those fruits and weighing it and the earnings will be given to my Grandparents. This is a kind of good business.
A Simple but Very Unique Structures:
My Grandpa made this very unique pig pen and a hut. The rooftop is made of anahaw leaves and this is their traditions backed when my Grandpa lives in Samar Region. The foundation is made of round lumbers with bamboo pieces as a fence and walls. I was having a lot of fun time during my visits at my Grandparent's place and I really want to go back here soon. Visiting my Grandparents is a good way so that our Family relationship stronger. Aside of that, many beautiful place here in the Sitio can be explored.
