Hello, hive and creative needle workers, it's Monday again and another #needleworkmonday edition, here is me wishing you all a great week ahead.

Every dress begins with a story, right? And I love to tell the beautiful stories behind my beautiful creations, so sit, back and relax, it's a romantic 😍 affair.

It was Father's Day yesterday and my client who prefers to be anonymous because she is a shy type wanted a beautiful dress to put on to take her husband out on a date, this will be her first time deciding to be in charge, her husband has always been the one taking them out for the past four years of their marriage, but she wanted to make a difference this time around.

Early last week, she brought this royal blue silk fabric and just said she wanted a free/loose fit dress, I was surprised because all the time I've known her, she prefers skin-fitted dresses, and that was when she broke the news to me that is pregnant, wow! After four years of marriage and what better day to break the news to her husband than on Father's Day, he was going to become a father too🥰.

How happy I was for them, we finally decided to make this beautiful circle dress that can be styled in two different ways, and the exciting part is that it is a very easy dress to make as I spent less than two hours making this dress.

Cutting and sewing process

Step 1

I started by cutting the bodice of both front and back in bias/ triangle to form a flare pattern.

Step 2

I piped the neckline for both front and back using a bias strip made with the same fabric, making a slight cut at the back, and also added a button loop.

Step 3

I joined both the front and back patterns along the shoulders.

Step 4

I cut out the sleeve patterns and sewed them to the bodice of the dresse

Step 5

Finally, I sewed both sides of the dress from the sleeves to the hem and also hemmed the dress. To help me form the second style, I made a rope out of the silk fabric which would be tied around the waist.

With just these few steps, the beautiful romantic, happy and elegant date dress Is ready.🥰🥰

She can use the rope for now and when her bump start showing, she can't opt for the second styling.
