Creative Sunday: I made a Christmas inspired dress

Merry Christmas everyone, its feels so good to witness this day, a day always filledd with so much love and joy in the air,

In the spirit of christmas, I will be sharing with us the process of how I made my sister's christmas carol dress,

My sister walked up to me some few weeks back and told me about how they were asked to put on a wine coloured dress as their(choir) theme for the year's christmas carol service celebration, she wanted something stunning and I could see the look in her eyes fantasizing how her dress will look like. She left the making process to me, confident that I will come up with something beautiful, and I did.

Without further ado, let me take you through the making process.

Materials Used

Sequin and plain velvet fabric
Boning
Soft stay
Satin lining
Skin net
Appliques

Starting,

  1. I drafted my patterns using a brown paper, for both frint and back

  1. I Transfered the drafted pattern to fabric, using the plain velvet material as the upper bodice, and the sequin as the cup/ bust

  1. Next, I joined the front patterns all together and added boning

  1. Joined the back also

  1. Joined both front and back

  1. I made a straight skirt pattern with the sequin fabric, which I used as the down part of the gown

  1. Now I've joined all together, I also attached a basic straight sleeve

  1. Finally, I added flowery appliques to enhance it further, which brought about this gorgeous look, we decided to add a choker at last minute too, it came out so beautiful and she waa indeed a star at the service as she rendered her songs beautifully well too.

Wow this is a really gorgeous dress, it looks amazing on you. Had no idea you first of all make the cut on paper before transferring it to the dress.
