One of the therapeutic gifts of nature we are blessed to experience in this world is the sound of music, have you ever heard the saying that "Music is food to the soul" which means it needs to be healthy enough to feed our mind, I've had days when the music I listen to while working helps makes the tension of doing a certain difficult task become lessen, other times a song helps us feel every emotion we ought to feel at certain periods of our lives and also helps us heal after some emotional breakdown, the reason why certain music brings back memories, music is a powerful force and one vital part of music that makes it powerful and meaningful to us is the lyrics.

No doubt, good beats give us the vibes as well, but we can't deny the fact that all vibes and no meaning, take the heart out of it, and what is the point if what we listen to adds no value to us just beats. Don't get me wrong, the beats are good for certain moments, but what offs me is the nuisance that often goes with some of the catchy beats that are not worthy to be termed lyrics, some are vulgar, messing the minds of our young ones rather than build up while some are outright gibberish, repeating same slang
that has no meaning over and over again yet these musicians songs becomes hit,with blinded fans while those with good lyrics are still hidden, some are even forced after trying to no avail to to get a hit track, they give up to their quality and give in to what the large messed up percentage wants, that
I often wonder if we lost the essence of music as we evolve as musicians in the past took every aspects of song production seriously, not focusing on beats alone, they made sure their lyrics were impactful, the reason their songs remain timeless. When it comes to music, I often consider myself an old soul, because as a child I was exposed to good music the likes of Don Williams, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson etc, these artist songs never gets old even with their passing. But check out songs today, they reign a couple years and just fades off, that is why we keep getting new recycled beats over and over again.

I believe these artist needs to do better, its not about knowing how to sing alone, it doesn't mean you have to release an album, go learn music, and how to write good lyrics from the heart that resonates in the heart of your fans, Asa is a good songwriter our present generation, it's not even compulsory to be a singer and writer combined, you could hire the a good song writer.

And lastly, our generation needs to do better, and not encourage unimpactful songs anymore, if the songs don't receive as much attention, then the singers would be forced to do better.
