A Fringed Hemmed Dress for a Special Occasion
Happy Weekend dear creatives!
Wishing everyone a relaxing and fun weekend.
I know everyone loves the weekend due to several personal reasons, for most people, it is because we take a break from work for two days, well in my part of the world the ladies most especially love the weekend because of the parties, from weddings, birthday, house warming, etc are more likely to be held during the weekend and I've got a favourite aunt who is the life of the party, there is never a dull moment with her, though she resides in a different town, whenever she needs a new dress, my number is always her first dial and I love making her dresses, she loves comfy dresses with a touch of uniqueness, commonly known as Bubu outfit.
She sent her fabric and which is a traditional fabric called Kampala, it has more like a nylon feel than cotton, according to her, it was bought as a support to the celebrant of the event she would be attending which is a remembrance ceremony, where the family members of the deceased remembers them after decades of their passing and reminisce on their memories so they don't fade away. This is a common tradition in my country, I'm not sure if it is practiced in other countries.
I will be sharing the making process of the dress I made my aunt who will be attending this occasion with us, it is a fringed hemmed dress, I've always wanted to make a dress with these long fringe but never had the opportunity until now, as you can see, they give that unique touch, adding extra length and rain drop effect on a dress.
It was very easy to maker, and the materials used also minimal, just a satin fabric and the fringe, even more than I anticipated and not too time consuming as well.
- I started by folding the fabric into four before drafting it, it is a cut together sleeve dress, with some ease as it is a loose fitted dress.
- Cutting it out, the front has a V-neckline, while the back is rounded
- Next I cut out strip which I used in finishing The V neckline
- I also used the brown strip to hem the sleeves, after joining the shoulders, then I joined the sides
- Here is how the knee-length dres looks like, before I sewed the fringe around the folded hem of the dress.
And here is the final look, the fringe completing the full length of the dress in stunning fascist, and my aunt totally loves her new dress.
Would you wear a fringed hem dress? For me, I know I would be making one for myself soon.

Thank you, thanks for your support.
I think it is an interesting designe, it is no common in my country so I wouldn´t wear someting like this because of the weather but it is a nice dress, and you did a great job. Congratulation.
Thanks ma'am, just curious is your country's weather cold or hot?
The weather is very hot here.
I see, same here, since the fabric isn't cotton, the more reason.
