Good morning everyone,

It’s been a while I share my drawings and painting which makes me so happy to be able to share my latest work today. My last painting was in black and white due to my fears of using colors. At a point I even convince myself to let my style be black and white when it comes to painting. This wasn’t by choice but because I thought I could never achieve a good colored painting.

After a while, I shared my concern with a fellow artist who inspires me a lot. He told me I could maintain the black and white style if I want but I shouldn’t limit myself because he believes I could achieve it. Then I sent to him my last colored painting piece and what he said afterwards changed my mind. He said some people's work aren’t as good as the one I thought wasn’t good enough and they are known and celebrated. Then I thought, if what I think isn’t good enough is good in his eyes, then I can produce something better.

Soon after, I started working on this piece. I watched a couple of TikTok and YouTube videos on how to mix skin tones. After some practice, I was able to come up with some nice skin tones to work with. Since I wanted to make the drawing a bit bigger than my canvas sketchbook, I prepared my own canvas. I primed it using gesso, allowed it to dry then I started working. I must say, the canvas was amazing and easy to work with. Though the disadvantage it has was that it dried quickly and absorbs some of the colors which to me is a minor thing for now. When I finished the painting, I could not believe I created that. Looks so beautiful and it makes me so happy. I’m so glad I never gave up cus this is just the beginning.
