Such a shame to see those books just sitting there. Of course they are not yours to take, but a shame. Some things don't look sad when neglected - I find the stroller kind of creepy - but books always look forlorn, the text on their peeling covers something like sad puppy eyes.
I'm assuming you and your fellow house hunter are operating under the philosophy of just don't get hurt, as far as what do you do if you get hurt? Seems like a pretty awkward place to fall through the stairs and need an ambulance. Although maybe you all are a lot more MacGyver than I am thinking, and one of you will open up your backpack and pop out the collapsible stretcher and neck brace. Your friend would say something like "Don't worry, man. I'm just going to pop your shoulder back in place and we will tell the people at the ER that you slipped in the shower."
That's a pretty interesting spot, and I'm glad you didn't fall through any stairs.
I'm recovering now from injury. Will likely be out for most of the winter. I was lucky, people do get killed doing this.
