Life became more beautiful; my everyday routine.

Being humans requires us to do some things that become an everyday routine for us. These activities are divided into different parts, there are the mandatory ones for our well-being, while some happen to be our responsibilities or obligations to others.

I don't have a fixed routine for my everyday activity because there are days when my routine changes due to mood swings, unplanned activity coming up unexpectedly, and other reasons but I have a clear picture of what my typical usually looks like so let me take you through it.

Life was different when I was doing the 8 - 5 job and living alone. My routine was fixed, I wake up every morning, freshen up and head out to work. I return in the evening, prepare dinner, take a glance through my day or do any fun activity like playing games or seeing a movie before going to bed.

Weekends are different because I get to do laundry, do thorough home cleaning, and cook good food. I usually feel drained because my job was demanding and due to my health, I usually don't have the energy to do much after work.

Everything changed when I lost my job during the lockdown. I had to relocate and started living with my family to ease a lot of things for myself. A lot of things changed for me which included my daily routine.

It was then I took blogging seriously and also became a fish farmer. Life became beautiful again because I had the privilege to enjoy life away from the stress of jumping from one vehicle to another, trekking for long minutes to beat traffic in the city of Lagos.

I was able to build a better relationship with my family and I realized there was more to a relationship than just taking care of bills.

I don't have a fixed time to wake up in the morning but I am definitely always up between 5- 6 am and this is because I don't have a sleeping time. Some nights, it can be later while it is early on some nights.

The first thing I do is pray even before getting out of bed and after that, other things can follow. This has been a tradition for me and I don't even think before doing it anymore.

I resume to the kitchen after getting out of bed.You must be wondering what kind of man resume to the kitchen at 6am.

Anyways, I resume to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for my siblings who are still in junior and senior school.

It use to be mom duty before we started living together but I relieved her of that duty so she can rest more. She took up missionary duties and I officially became the chef in the house.

I make breakfast for them every morning because it is a ritual in the family, we need strength to carry out our daily activities so breakfast is compulsory.

Once I am done cooking, I dish the food and head to the farm which is about 20 minute trek from the house.

I get to feed the fish, check their conditions, and change the pond water if necessary. I trek back home again and that serves as an everyday exercise for me.

I clean my chicken cage when I return home, give them food and fill their water container.

All these tasks are always completed before 9 am, my outdoor activities are done for the morning so I resume cleaning the house. There are days when my immediate brother does the cleaning if he is around.

Once the chores are done, I retire to the bathroom to freshen up.

My breakfast comes at 10 am or after, I don't eat until I am done with my morning activities. I relax after food and resume blogging. I write and post my articles first before engaging with people online.

I usually engage till noon depending on the things I have to do online.

I do take breaks from my online engagement to do other activities which are not fixed. It could be taking a nap, reading, watching a movie, music, and other.

These activities usually last up to 2hrs or more depending on how much I enjoyed doing them.

I usually resume my online activity again in the evening until I go to the farm again around 5 pm to give the fishes food again. They eat twice a day, morning and evening.

I do spend time outside in the evening before returning home, I enjoy taking the evening breeze under a big tree close to the farm.

I am always there for about 30 mins to an hour, I get to interact with people who also hang out under the tree in the evening.

I return home to prepare dinner for the family and I eat immediately as well. I spend time chatting with my siblings at night and sometimes, it could be watching football, movie or any other thing before returning to my room.

I freshen up again, pray and engage on my device until I find myself in the dreamland.

Thanks for reading

I should read some of your fish farming blogs sometime. Sounds like fun.

That is very thoughtful of you relieving your mom of the heavy duty of early morning breakfast making. You just gave me another reason to take learning how to cook seriously.

Like you, I don't wake up at a fixed time either because I don't sleep at a fixed time. I mostly find myself dozing off in some activity I'm engaged in. Recently though, I'm doing my NSS and it's kind of forced me into the habit of waking up between 7-8. I hope this habit stays after my NSS because it's important I develop an early wake habit.

A new farming season will start soon so I will make sure I write 2-3 time about them every week so that people can get the gist and they are really fun to watch.

I love cooking and that helped me a lot in taking the chores from, she cooked every day when I was young and doing the same now in return for my younger ones shouldn't be a problem.

Is fish farming very difficult to do? I’m thinking of getting back into home steading again after giving it up about 7 years ago when I was going to Senior High School. I think fish farming will be a cool business to do especially since we don’t have many fish farmers here. Less competition.

It is really cool but the business is not what it use to be anymore because of the increase in feed price and unstable market price.

As long as you are not paying for land bro, you can cope very well. A lot of land owner see fish farmers like yahoo boys not knowing we also face challenges.

I don’t think I’ll be paying for land. I think I can run it from my house compound. Unless it requires a huge plot?

The problem will most likely be with the feed. It’ll be difficult to even find it here, so when you do find it, you can be sure it’ll be expensive.

You have such a productive day. How sweet of you to prepare the meals and let you mom rest. That's every mom's delight. 😁

It's the least thing I can do to support her, she has been a really wonderful mom.

You are really a busy man. Such a tight, compact schedule and start your task early in the morning.
I bet someone like you who's very productive in a day has a satisfying feeling once everything is complete.
I do enjoy what your day looks like. !PIZZA

I usually feel good going through my daily routine, I have been like this for about two years and I don't get tired. Even when I am having a bad day, I still go through it easily.
