Social Media Challenge

As mentioned in the last post, we are back in tier 1 as we lost a few members. Currently we are still in the process of rebuilding so this brawl we will still be fighting in tier 1.

The battles for my brawl is novice level with only Chaos Legion cards being available.

Each battle are also given some random rulesets and mana so we have to quickly decide on what units to use and where to place them on the fly. Details of these rulesets descriptions can be found here.

There were 5 battles for me in this brawl and below are the details:

Battle 1 - Ruleset Silenced Summoners + Taking Sides (15 Mana): LOST

I chose Life for this match hoping to use the gladiator, Lightfoot, to quickly dispatch off the enemy units and grew in size. Unfortunately the opponent put up only 2 units, a big HP tank and a sneaker that manage to hit my Lightfoot which I hide at the last position. I couldn't kill off the enemy tank fast enough before Lightfoot got taken out. Ended up losing the first match...

Battle 2 - Ruleset Explosive Weaponry + Healed Out (12 Mana) - WON

Again a low mana match. I took a while to decide to go with Water this time round with the gladiator Vorst and betting the opposing side wouldn't put up Disintegrator since this is a very low mana match. It almost ended in a draw as the opposing side again use Death and put up Windeku again. Seems like everyone like to use Death for low mana match.

Anyway I got lucky when my Vorst managed to dodge a Windeku attack and finished it off the next round.

Battle 3 - Rulesets Silenced Summoners + Even Stevens (32 Mana): WON

battle 3.jpg

Went with Earth for this match as Earth tends to do well with Even Stevens with its healer being able to use. Also Water wasn't available. Unfortunately the opponent also went with Earth and has Quora Towershead
somemore. I was able to abandon watching the match and skip directly to the result when I notice the opponent backline was pretty weak and is extremely vulnerable to my Katrelba Gobson which is the other reason why I chose to use Earth.

Do watch the whole match. It shows why in brawl you have to be very careful with putting weak units as buffer wall. My Gobson grew and grew until it can match the opponent Towershead and defeat her! By the time Gobson took out the opponent's healer I knew I am going to win. Man this is the first time I ever defeated a Quora Towershead's team!

Battle 4 - Rulesets Close Range + Equalizer (12 Mana): WON

battle 4.jpg

Another low mana match and since the ruleset allows range unit to also be able to hit at first position, I went with the Life summoner for the +1 range damage. I also wanted to use Lightfoot again and after that put as many low mana unit as I can in front of him. Note that the Equalizer ruleset would match all my low mana unit hp to the highest hp unit in the setup.

The opponent went with Death. Death is a good summoner to use in this situation too because Death summoner will reduce the opponent units' HP by 1. Unfortunately for my opponent, my Lightfoot is a much stronger gladiator than the Death's gladiator, Whistling Damon, especially with the additional range damage. The moment Lightfoot got the first kill it is over.

Battle 5 - Ruleset Heavy Hitters + Up Close & Personal (29 Mana): WON

battle 5.jpg

This is a only melee match so I went with Fire for the +1 Melee damage. Not only that I also add Disintegrator into the setup and further reduce opponent's melee damage by 1. The opponent surprisingly went with Water and didn't put up another Disintegrator. Ended up my simple Antoid Platoon was able to block most of the melee damage away because it has the Shield ability. Easy WIN here.

4 Wins out of 5 battles is great. My biggest delight in this brawl was defeating Quora Towershead. I probably have lost more than 10 matches against Towershead without a single win prior to this.

We didn't do well as a guild though. Dropped to 3rd this time round and the merit gain was quite little. But to be fair, 3rd was a very common placing 2 months ago. We would probably go back to 2nd tier again even with the lack of members because the last position in tier 2 probably would have gotten more merit than 3rd placing in tier 1.

Windeku has no healing on level 1. But is still a strong unit. The Quora Towershead's match was great, enjoyed watching it.
