BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! - Rise of the Commons Ruleset
Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Rise of the Commons.
In a Rise of the Commons ruleset, only common and rare cards may be used. Summoner cards aren't affected by this rule so you can still use Epic or Legendary summoners if needed.
Lets take a look at a Modern Silver ranked match with Rise of the Commons as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Rise of the Commons with a max mana of 21. Only Water, Life and Death splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

| Venari Bonesmith | 4 | 4th | Venari Bonesmith's Poison ability will usually kill off a low health enemy unit through poison in a turn. However the odd of poisoning is only 50 percent each attack so luck is needed when using this unit. |
| Xenith Archer | 2 | 5th | Just a cannon fodder to protect my backline. I only have 2 more mana to use here so went with a range unit for extra damage. |

Opponent Lineup:
My opponent went with a Life splinter lineup with General Sloan as the summoner. I don't really like to use General Sloan especially if Dragon splinter is also available. Dragon is not available in this case and the enemy tank, Drybone Barbarian, is a scary unit to face.
End of Round 1:
The enemy Drybone Barbarian was terrifying as its total melee attack went from 5 to 8 when it was enraged. It almost 1 shot my Cursed Windeku. It also retaliated all my melee attack. The only thing that saved me was the extra armor I gotten from my Ravenhood Warden. That extra armor absorbed the massive Drybone Barbarian's attack. It is also unfortunate for my opponent that the Drybone Barbarian was killed off by me before it can be healed. Even though I lose my Cursed Windeku, the loss of my opponent Drybone Barbarian was even more devastating to my opponent.
End of Round 2:
With the opponent's Time Mage killed in this round, its game over for my opponent.
End of Round 3:
Match was won in just 3 round.
KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use armor to outlast my opponent as I use poison and ranged to take down my opponent lineup. My only fear is facing a full magic lineup but that is partially mitigated by my Summoner which had a -1 magic ability on enemy magic units.
TIPS
Usually in a Rise of the Commons ruleset, you will not see many high health units. This is because most of the higher health units are usually Epic or Legendary cards. As such abilities like Protect (+2 armor), Weaken (-1 health) and even Redemption (-1 health to all enemy units upon death) can be extremely devastating.
Trample ability can be devastating as well especially against an opposing lineup that has no extra armor and are full of low health units.
