BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! - Even Steven Ruleset

Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Even Stevens.

In an Even Stevens ruleset battle, only units with even mana costs may be used.

This rule does not apply to summoners though.

I was only able to get a single Even Stevens ruleset match thus far this week and it wasn't an interesting one simply because my team's level was way above that of my opponent. Anyway lets take a look at this Modern ranked match with Even Stevens as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Silenced Summoners and Even Stevens with a max mana of 21. Only Death and Dragon splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

TEAM SETUP:

Splinter	Mana Cost	Position	Reason
Quix the Devious	4	Summoner	This battle has Silenced Summoner ruleset meaning the ability of the summoner will not work in this battle. The only thing that summoner will affect the lineup is its level. So naturally I chose my highest level summoner from Death and Dragon splinter which in this case is Quix. Quix also allow me to use both Dragon and Death unit. Judging from my opponent past 5 battles, I am likely to face a death team lineup as the opponent seem to only use level 1 or 2 Chaos Legion rare summoners.
Riftwing	4	1st	If my opponent going to use Death lineup then I am likely to face Cursed Windeku in the first position. Cursed Windeku has Thorn ability so putting Riftwing here means my tank wouldn't be attacking the Cursed Windeku and damaging itself. Riftwing also has Backfire and Flying and is faster than Cursed Windeku meaning the opponent Cursed Windeku has a good chance of missing my Riftwing and getting Backfire damage instead.
Vruz	2	2nd	I hardly ever see Vruz being used so far. I am putting it here because I wanted it to die (once my tank died) and give my back unit more magic damage through its Martyr ability.
Revealer	4	3rd	My magic attacking lineup. Even though the Revealer has only 1 magic damage, its Stun ability is quite powerful.
Venari Bonesmith	4	4th	My 2nd magic attack unit. Its power comes from its Poison ability
Naga Assassin	2	5th	I placed Naga Assassin as the back tank because of its Backfire
Total Mana:	20

Opponent Lineup:

My opponent went with a Death splinter lineup with Thaddius Brood as the summoner. The summoner is only level 1 though with Cursed Windeku as the tank so I am expecting my team to cruise through this battle.

End of Round 1:

My opponent's Cursed Windeku was poisoned and then stunned by my units right from the start. My Riftwing also managed to dodge an attack from the opponent's Dark Astronomer dealt 2 damage back to it. Looked like an easy victory here.

End of Round 2:

My opponent's Dark Astronomer was dispatched off by my Vruz. Vruz is quite a good card for just 2 mana. I am still surprised I haven't really see anyone using it yet so far. Meanwhile my Riftwing dodge again, this time from the opponent's Shadow Snitch.

End of Round 3:

The opponent was dispatched off by the end of round 3. Interestingly, my Riftwing ends up with more health than before the match even started.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy for this battle was simply to chose the highest level summoner and to attack using magic and ranged units since I am expecting a tank with Thorn.

SUMMARY
There are certain splinters that seems to have more even mana units or odd mana units. For example for Even Stevens, Death and Life splinters are good splinters to use. And if you combine it with Dragons you would have even more choices.

Fire though is usually not a good splinter to use in Even Stevens ruleset as most of its units are odd mana.
