BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! - Equal Opportunity

Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Equal Opportunity.

In a Equal Opportunity ruleset, all units gain the opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.

Lets take a look at a Wild Silver ranked match with Equal Opportunity as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Equal Opportunity and Up to Eleven with a max mana of 21. Only Water, Earth and Death splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

Splinter	Mana Cost	Position	Reason
Lobb Lowland	6	Summoner	I went with Lobb Lowland because I wanted to deploy Quora Towershead in this match. Quora Towershead is a great unit to use in an Equal Opportunity ruleset match because the ruleset allows it to hit from the back with both its melee and magic attack. Coupled those advantages with Bloodlust, Quora would very quickly becomes unstoppable.
Fungus Flinger	3	1st	The reason with putting Fungus Flinger as the tank was its Martyr ability. My intention was for it to die fast so as to trigger Martyr and boost my Quora Towershead's stats.
Quora Towershead	10	2nd	My main unit in this setup. The whole setup is to make a powerful Quora Towershead so that it can grow and steamroll the enemy units. It was deliberately placed behind Fungus Flinger so that it will benefit from Fungus Flinger's Martyr ability when Flinger died.
Mycelic Morphoid	1	3rd	Just a buffer unit to keep Sneak and Opportunity units from hitting my Quora too early into the game. It has Thorn and could cause some returned damage if hit by melee attack.
Chaos Agent	1	4th	Another buffer unit to keep Sneak and Opportunity units from my Quora. It had Dodge and combined with the Blind from Fungus Flinger, it had a decent chance to dodge incoming enemy melee or ranged attacks.

Opponent Lineup:

My opponent went with a Earth splinter lineup with Lobb Lowland as the summoner as well. The big difference though is my opponent used Katrelba Gobson, which is then sandwiched by 2 Martyr units.

End of Round 1:

My Quora quickly finished off the 2 Martyr units on the opposing team as the 2 units had the lowest health. While the killing boosted my opponent's Gobson stats twice, it also boosted my Quora's stats twice. The opponent Gobson went on to miss my Chaos Agent twice. My Chaos Agent had Dodge and the opponent's Gobson was also hit with Blind. Those 2 status gave my Chaos Agent a 45% chance to dodge any melee or ranged attack. Still it was a bit of bad luck for Gobson to miss both of its attack.

I also lost my Fungus Flinger towards the end of the round and that boosted my Quora again. The first turn alone my Quora was boosted 3 times giving it now 5 magic attack, 5 melee attack, 5 speed and 15 health. Quora had grown into a monster with the first turn alone.

End of Round 2:

My Quora then started the 2nd turn by killing off the opponent's tank, the Hill Giant. This again boosted Quora. This led to my opponent's Gobson facing my Quora next. While the twice boosted Gobson was also strong, it cannot deal enough damage to kill my Quora. This meant Gobson was going to die next round.

End of Round 3:

The last enemy unit, Gobson, was killed with just 1 hit from my Quora thus giving me the WIN.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use power up my Quora so that it will become an unstoppable force with its Bloodlust ability. Martyr unit was also use to further boost Quora's stats.

SUMMARY
I usually employed these 2 strategies to use in a Equal Opportunity ruleset:

1. Using Taunt unit. Taunt unit will pulled all the attacks to the unit. This will help keep your low health high attacking unit survive longer.
2. Using Martyr unit. Most Martyr units have low health which means they are going to be targeted first. Thus placing low health Martyr unit at strategic position will boost your lineup tremendously.

While my opponent did employ the 2nd strategy, the main unit that was selected to carry the team had health that was too low to compete.
