BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! - Aimless Ruleset

Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands' ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on this round is Aimless.

In a Aimless ruleset, all monsters are given the Scattershot ability. Scattershot ability means all monster attacks will randomly hit opposing units. Even if opposing units have Taunt ability, they will still be treated as normal units and randomly targeted.

Lets take a look at a Wild ranked match with Aim True as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Aimless plus Close Range with a max mana limit of 40. Only Earth and Water Splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

TEAM SETUP:

Splinter	Mana Cost	Position	Reason
Immortalis	6	Summoner	I am expecting to face either the summoner Keyla or Obsidian. Immortalis is a very good counter against magic units so if the opposing unit uses Obsidian, that would be great news to me as Immortalis' Void ability would counter Obsidian +1 magic. If the opponent uses Keyla, it would be a bit more tricky. Still Immortalis' Scatter ability is very good against Keyla's +1 shield though.
Grund	10	1st	My main tank. Grund has a good amount of health and has Double Strike. With Void, it would be able to survive magic attack thrown on it for a while.
Mycelic Morphoid	1	2nd	Just a cannon fodder with thorn. Hope to catch an enemy melee unit with it.
Mushroom Seer	5	3rd	I need its Silence ability to further reduce enemy unit magic attacks. As you can see I really am expecting to face enemy magic units.
Goblin Psychic	6	4th	My backline healer to heal my Grund. I will depend on it to keep my Grund alive.
Spirit Hoarder	3	5th	I used Spirit Hoarder here because of its Triage ability. I need Triage to heal my backline as this is a Scattershot ruleset match
Mycelic Slipspawn	9	6th	I know Taunt isn't going to work in this match but Mycelic is here more to absorb damage than to direct damage in this match.
Total Mana:	40

Battle Lineup:

My opponent unfortunately came along with a Water lineup. The Axemaster at the back is going to give me a lot of problem unless I can take it out quickly with Scattershot.

End of Round 1:

Immortalis starts with reducing the health of all the opposing units by 1. This is very important ability that I usually didn't think of much when I use Immortalis. With a reduced health on all the opposing units, it makes it easier for my units to take out the opposing low health units. This is why my Goblin Psychic was able to take out the opponent's Spirit Hoarder with 1 shot while my own Spirit Hoarder survived a hit. Not only my Spirit Hoarder survived, but it went on to heal my Mycelic Slipspawn.

End of Round 2:

The opposing Axemaster took out my Spirit Hoarder this time round but also ended up dying together with the Merdaali Guardian (healer). With no healer now, my opponent's tank will die very soon.

Do notice that when I hit any of the opposing unit with magic attack, it not only hit the health of the enemy units but also remove the armor at the same time. This is why magic attack with Shatter is much more powerful than a melee or ranged attack with Shatter.

End of Round 3:

By end of Round 3, the match is over. The opponent is left with just 1 unit with magic attack that can hardly damage my tank while I still have a healer at the back.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use Immortalis' Void ability to defend against enemy magic units while using healing to heal the frontline and backline from Scattershot. Offense wise would be to use magic attacks to spray into the opponent backline.

SUMMARY
As you can see, Aimless need a bit of a luck when it comes to taking out the enemy units that you want. But it also allow you the opportunity to take out back units that are otherwise very hard to reach. For example in the battle above, the Axemaster would be the last unit I can hit because it is in the last position as I am using a magic lineup. With Aimless, I can now have a chance to hit and kill the Axemaster which has low health points but extremely fast.
