Remembering Buddha's sterilization #tbt / Recordando la esterilización de Buda (ESP-ENG)

Espero que se encuentren bien y felices. Con Buda, mi perrita, que estuvo enferma todos estos días, recordé cuando la esterilizamos. En sus dos años de vida, nunca se habia enfermado así, lo más cercano a cuidarla por enfermedad fue esta experiencia de esterilizarla.

Cuando convenci a mi mama de adoptar a Buda, su única condicion fue que Buda se estirilizaria en lo que tuviera la edad suficiente, ya que con Mía, mi poodle anterior, sufrimos cuando le dieron tumores. Así que cuando Buda cumplió los 5 meses, en marzo del 2023, consultamos en una jornada de una fundación que realiza esterilizaciones y nos dijeron que sí se podía.

Creo que lo más difícil fue el ayuno, porque nos dieron cita a las 5pm por ser un perrito un poquito grande y tenía que pasar el día sin comer. Eso fue un reto, porque Buda es comelona y aun asi siento que se comportó. A eso de las 4pm llegamos al sitio, aprovechamos para terminar la inscripción y hacer el pago. Ahí la pesaron y le anotaron su peso y su número en una cinta que le pusieron en la cabeza.

Hubo retrasos, así que no ingresó a la 5pm. Obviamente Buda estaba inquieta y mi mama y yo también, además de nerviosas. No fue una espera cómoda ni fácil. A eso de las 7pm la ingresaron. Estábamos asustadas y muy nerviosas, pero a eso de las 8pm la sacaron de quirófano. Sentimos alivio cuando reaccionó e intentó pararse. En el mismo sitio compramos unas fajas para ponerlas. Mi mamá eligió los colores y durante días bromeamos con que eran el último grito de la moda en el mundo perruno.

Volvimos a casa con Buda más dormida que despierta. Al otro día tenía energía y mucha hambre. Se supone que debía pasar 10 días de reposo, pero era un cachorro que quería brincar, así que eso costó un poco. Ya lo más difícil había pasado, ahora solo quedaba curarla, darle pollito y amor.

Quien tiene mascotas sabe que esterilizar es una forma de amar a tu mascota. Con esto previenes enfermedades y puedes ayudar a la sobrepoblación en caso de mascotas comunitarias.

I hope they are well and happy. With Buda, my dog, who was sick all these days, I remembered when we spayed her. In her two years of life, she had never been sick like that, the closest thing to taking care of her because of illness was this experience of spaying her.

When I convinced my mom to adopt Buda, her only condition was that Buda would be spayed as soon as she was old enough, as with Mia, my previous poodle, we suffered when she got tumors. So when Buda was 5 months old, in March 2023, we consulted a foundation that performs sterilizations and they told us that it was possible.

I think the hardest part was the fasting, because they gave us an appointment at 5pm because he was a little big dog and he had to spend the day without eating. That was a challenge, because Buda is a big eater and even so I feel she behaved. At about 4pm we arrived at the site, we took the opportunity to finish the registration and make the payment. There they weighed her and wrote down her weight and number on a tape that they put on her head.

There were delays, so she didn't get in at 5pm. Obviously Buda was anxious and my mom and I were nervous as well. It was not a comfortable or easy wait. At about 7pm she was admitted. We were scared and very nervous, but at about 8pm she was taken out of surgery. We were relieved when she reacted and tried to stand up. At the same place we bought some girdles to put them on. My mom picked out the colors and for days we joked that they were the latest fad in the doggy world.

We returned home with Buda more asleep than awake. The next day she was energetic and very hungry. She was supposed to have 10 days of rest, but she was a puppy that wanted to jump, so that took some doing. The hardest part was over, now all that was left was to cure her, give her chicks and love.

Those who have pets know that spaying and neutering is a way to love your pet. With this you prevent diseases and you can help the overpopulation in case of community pets.
