Talent: My aptitude towards public speaking
You just have to find that thing that's special about you that distinguishes you from all the others, and through true talent, hard work, and passion, anything can happen.
~Dr. Dre
Talent is something that comes to you naturally. Talent is what we are born with, inbuilt into us. Most times we don't even know what our talent is. There are those lucky enough to discover their talent on time and there are those people who discover their talent later on.
Most often people argue about talent and skill, some say they are both the same, and others argue that the two concepts are different,
saying that talent is inborn like how bees know how to gather honey or how birds fly, while skill is something that we learn. Although both terms are different yet they are somehow alike, you might have talent but when you don't develop it, it lay dormant. Talented people still strive to know more about how to develop their talent, they keep learning, keep developing themselves. Talent is something that must keep on being developed.
talent discovery
I have so many talents but the one talent I discovered early in life, is public speaking. I never knew it was public speaking until I got to the university, then I just knew I love speaking in public.
How did I come about this talent
When I was eight years old, I was selected as a news presenter alongside another boy, during my school end-of-the-year party. I was so excited, I could hardly sleep the night before. The day I was so excited that I was going to be on stage. I was kind of scared when I saw lots of people that day, but when I got on the stage, the fear disappeared and I was able to read the news fluently, that was when I knew I love being in public.
how I have come so far with my talent
One thing my talent has helped me with is the ability to speak up in public. When I was in SS3, I was made the head girl of my school. When I was being interviewed for my current job, I was given a practical task. I had thought the interview will be oral but when I got there I was directed to attend to a customer that came to buy clothes. This customer was not an ordinary person, she was a celebrity and I was kind of scared. I was to attend to her as though she was any other customer out there, due to my ability to think fast, I walked up to her confidently and spoke as though it was my first time, she was happy with my service. The interviewer was impressed and I got the job instantly.
lastly
Talent is beautiful and we have them naturally but if we don't develop them it will be a waste. We have to take the time to discover our talent and develop ourselves. I believe everyone on earth has a talent, nobody is created as ordinary.

Public speaking is good, sometimes, there are times we need to stand out and speak for ourselves and other people, it's a skill that's valuable to human growth and development. As for someone like me, I don't think I have a skill, but I remembered being very innovative as a young boy.
I disagree with this, I have read your posts and I am always wowed by them. I have never read a post from you and not learn something new, your skill is writing. Your writing is great and structured. Innovative is also a talent not many people are innovative. Innovators always find a way around things and that is a unique talent

Talent🤔. I’ve always thought talent was something you loved doing. You might not be born with something but you learnt it and you are suddenly good at it. You love doing it. I think this can be considered as talent.
I used to not like public speaking that much as I couldn’t speak too well as a kid. But as time went on it became better cause I had to do it. I had a position who demanded me to conduct assembly at times and then I liked it later on. But for now I don’t do public speaking.
I guess the agreement comes from the definition of talent. Talent is defined as a natural ability, something that comes to you naturally while skill is something we learned, to me both are the same. When you become so good at a skill it becomes your talent. Public speaking is good once you get past the fright stage, and some respect and admiration do come with speaking publicly. These days people are monetizing public speaking.
Ok, but am sure you will love it should you choose to
Haha you're a direct opposite of me 🥲 I could find ways to avoid any chances of speaking in public except it's just singing 😂
Your talent is amazing, I see you going places because of it already... It's a talent that the world really needs.
Just keep building it, all the best with it 😊
😅😅, we are opposite indeed. So only singing brings you out publicly, chai🤣🤣🤣. Are you a chorister or an acapella musician?
Thank you, I hope to develop it even further. Thank you for your kind words.
An Acapella singer but I do covers of instrumental songs here on Hive though 😊
You're welcome, I'll be watching from behind ❤️
Wow just like my team lead @hopestylist, she is also an acapella singer. Am not sure if she does instrument covers here on hive also, but I think she is
Yeah she does but her Acapella covers are more 😊
And tell you what! She's my younger sister 😳😂
Oh, I just love her voice. I went to check the post you did on nakupenda and gosh, it was too sweet, I enjoyed it.
Seriously, wow, just wow. I didn't even know, now that am looking closely I can see some family semblance between you two. Am glad to have met you both. You guys are multitalented. Are you all acapellas in your family?
Oh I appreciate you stopping by my video cover, thanks for the compliment 😊
Haha yeah, we are family and yes, we love Acapella and do Acapella more in our family 🥰
Oh the acapella family, I love that
Haha yeah, thanks dear
Awwn, see her explaining her team leader to her team leader's sister, hehe. I'm happy you've met my sister 🤭❤️
🤭🤭🤭 I didn't know, an happy I met her
Smiles, I'm glad you know now 🙈.
I believe that everyone in life has talent in them but only if they haven't discovered it yet
Some have talent of listening to people
While some have talent to create something new
Your talent is such a good one
Because I can't speak publicly I can't even face camera so your talent is so great
Thank you. Talents are so many that even don't consider them because we feel they are ordinary stuff, it is until you meet someone who wants it badly, that we know just how valuable what we have is. Thank you for reading my post
Even though both terms; talent and skill looks alike, there is a difference. While talent is something you can do naturally without learning except you improve yourself, skill is something you learn and be perfect at. Through learning a skill, one could actually discover his or her talents especially for those who are struggling to identify theirs. My opinion though, so I stand to be corrected.
Meanwhile, I had always admired those who speak in public and I wish I could but I guess we all are unique differently. So, keep up with your talent 👌✌️👏👏
My thoughts exactly but I guess people might have contrary opinion.
You will be surprised by what you can do when faced with a situation. I have a friend who was so shy that she could hardly speak in from of strangers but when she got a job that demand her speaking in publicly, she had to face her fears, now she is an expert in it. We never know what we are capable of until we find ourselves in a situation.
You are right. Just like a small boy who said he can't swim but the old man carried him and threw him inside the big river, he found that he could swim. If he wasn't thrown forcefully, he wouldn't know he could. Same with everyone.
Thanks 😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣, she brought out his survival skills. Thank you for stopping by
Public speaking is very good, I wish I have the boldness for it. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Yes, it is. I hope it will come to you one day. Thanks for reading through.
Public speaking is an amazing talent, I really admire people that can boldly speak so well in public... I've never really been someone who likes to talk in public, I preferred to write.
You've got great experiences and many opportunities to come in this field of yours. I love your talent and I will love to learn it as a skill.
Interesting read dear. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Thank you dear. You can actually learn it, there are study materials online, videos and courses on public speaking. There are also association that engage in public speaking, you could even start a YouTube channel and from there you become better. You could also join a local community that is geared towards speaking in the public.
I've always had stage fright so it always fascinates me to see people talk confidently on stage or in public, you have my applauds
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the applauds, am grateful. But really once you conquer your stage fright you will realise that public speaking is not that hard. Thanks for stopping by
Public speaking is an amazing talent my dear. A lot of people have missed an opportunity due to inability to speak up in the public like this interview. Good thing you are developing yours. Keep it up my dear and good luck with your talent 💕😍
Thank you, I hope to even develop it further. Fear is what keeps most people from public speaking but once we can get hold of the fear then really, it will be ok. Thanks for stopping by boss
Fear my dear...my second son is intelligent but instead of him to speak up in answering questions, he will prefer to write ✍️ and submit. I understand the importance of public speaking and I am working tirelessly with his teacher on this.
Once again, thanks for sharing 👍
Am glad for this parent generation. You guys now know the importance of some things our parents belittle. Parents are now coming up with strategies to help their children overcome challenges. Thank you for being there for him and being supportive.
Awwwwwn 🥰
My dear...I am glad too
Information is power 👌
We are getting better
I think this last point is the most relevant and important one. Thank you!

Thank you for your support @geelocks, really appreciate it! 👍
You are welcome @arcange
It entails great courage to speak in public, only a few people can overcome this 'fever of speaking in public.
Congratulations on being among the few people that overcome this phase and I wish you all the best in your speaking journey.
Great courage indeed, but once we overcome the fever, we find ourselves enjoying it.
Thank you, am happy to be among. Thanks for your lovely comment
You are welcome
