Moon contest (February 2023) - DIY Moon Gifting Set !

Hello everyone , Today I will be sharing my participation to DIYHUB MONTHLY CONTEST . This is a great community for all the artists and even the non artists to showcase their creativity to the world .

Moving on to the article that i made ! Actually i came up with a idea of Moon gifting set. Imagine gifting a moon decor to your loved one on their birthday , anniversary or any special ocassion.

I have taken A moon decor and moon earing as my gifting choice . Come let’s learn how to make that .

MATERIAL NEEDED

MDF or any wooden board in a circular shape !
Wool (white )
Watercolours or acrylic paints
Brushes
Mod podge ( or fevicol)
Water and glue mixture
Some silver floral decora (any)
Beaded silver patch ( of your choice)
Black chain
Tissue paper
A transparent glass ball (can also use christmas hangings)

That was it for the material of Diy moon hanging !

How to make it?

Put on some good music , enjoy the process because that is the what will make you feel more happy and the happier you are the better you can create (i feel so).

Cut down the tissue paper in random form , no neatness needed in cutting , just tear it . Secondly prepare a mixture of water and glue (50:50) ratio.

Now using the brush , take the glue water paste and wrap those torn tissue on the glass ball , this will create a textu of the moon 🌚!
You can add as many layers until you are satisfied, keep them to get dried fir about 30 mins , until then we could move to further process .

The glass balls would look something like this ! (Do not give edges a finish look because moon had a very rough texture!

Tie a knot on one end of the wooden circle and start wrapping the wool until the whole circle is covered nicely .

Once the circle is completed fully , we can move to the next step !

Try combining and try different placement of the flowers or décor pieces you have . I likes this so i will move ahead and stick it using any strong adhesive. Here i am using Fevibond .

After this I attached the beaded patch! And here is how it looks !

Its time to move back to the glass ball as it is completely dry by now, so color it using watercolour or any medium, use white grey and black as shades of moon .
pro tip : do-not use raw colors , mix shades and create more shades so that it looks close to realistic

Now it looks something like this !

Its time to glow the moon , put in a battery operated fairy light inside the glass ball and close the ball from both the ends . Once this is done attach it to the circle that we created.

Add some glitter stones if you want and you and now you have an amazing gift ready for your loved one .

FINAL REVEAL

Its time to move on the second part of the gift that is Diy moon earings

Materials Needed

Mould it (epoxy)
Beads
Ear studs
Glue
Sponge (any form)

HOW TO MAKE IT!

Mix part A and part B of mould it and combine them until they get blended into one color as shown above .

Make 2 balls out of it and cut out a moon shape using any sharp object.
remember the size of both shoulders be same

Lastly , roll out some beads and glitter using sponge or hands , also insert the ear stud base into the earings .

Now all you have to do is to leave the clay to dry for 24 hours properly and it will be hard as rock and the beautiful earrings will be ready.

FINAL REVEAL

Now gift that to your friend , family and the gift will have a personal touch because the love that you have inserted in making the gift is no bigger than the materialistic gifts out there .

She is a very good friend of mine so I thought of gifting her this art piece . She loved the earrings and could not wait to hang the moon decor on her house dining area .
