Fara Recipe(Indian Style Dumplings)

Fara is a typical North Indian dish which is very popular in Uttar-Pradesh,India. Fara is streamed Lentils Dumplings,it is health as it consumes the lesser quantity of oil. It has a lip-smacking taste,Everyone in my house, from the kids to the adults, all loves it. I believe that it is made in every Indian house, maybe its name is differently. You can have this recipe for both breakfast and evening snacks. In my house, it is usually made in the evening as it takes much time to cook.

Ingredients
โขRice flour - 1 cup (200 grams)
โข ยผ cup Split chickpeas.
โข ยผ cup Urad dal.
โข 5 tbsp Oil.
โข 3-4 finely chopped Green chilli.
โข 1 tsp Cumin seeds.
โข 3 to 4 inch Ginger.
โข 1 tbsp Red chilli powder.
โข 2 tbsp Coriander powder.
โข Green coriander (finely chopped)
โข Salt to Taste.
Start with
To begin making the Dal Fara Recipe, Soak the dal for 6 to 7 hours, drain water add it in mixy jar with green chilli ginger jeera hing and grind it to Smooth Paste.
Batter is Ready to Roast.
Stuffing
Take a kadai or Fry Pan, Heat the Oil, Add Cumin seeds and Asafoetida, wait still it starts crackling.
Now, Add the Batter at High flame, Start stirring Untill it get Dry.
It is not Easy part, My hand started paining while Roasting it ๐ As you can see it dried up perfect for filling.
Now, add Red chilli powder, Coriander powder, Green Coriander leaves and Salt to taste. Mix it Well.
Now, Your stuffing is ready Fill, My kitchen has amazing Aroma of this delicious stuffing.
How to make Dough
Now, it's Time the knead the Rice Dough, even it is not easy Part.
To knead the rice flour, add a little salt to lukewarm water and then knead it.Do not add too much water otherwise it will become difficult to knead.
In the last step, apply some oil on hands and then give two-four punches so that the consistency becomes exactly right.
As you can see, dough is perfectly made.
How to Make Fara
There is no need of Rolling pin, Take a small portion of dough, shape to the ball, With the help of your fingers, expand it into a round shape.
Now take a small quantity of stuffing and place the in the middle with your hands press slowly.
Each step you can see in pictures, SometomyI think pictures speaks better than words.
As you can see how perfectly my fara is made.
As easy as it looks, when you make it, you will realize how difficult it is.
Boil the Water in a big vessel, Add 1 tbsp of Salt into it.
As soon as water Start boiling, put all the pieces of Fara in it one by one,So that it doesn't break.
Now push the lid on top of it.
And let it cook for at least 20 minutes, keep checking the quantity of water in between, if water is less then you can add more later.
Now with the help of strainer,strain all the water.
Finally my Fara are ready. Cut into the pieces serve it with chutney and sauce.
I had also done the final photography of the fara, but I don't know how those photos were accidentally deleted from me. Seriously, I feel bad as Photos of the final recipe are necessary, Mistakenly deleted by me.And it is not easy to make, So when I made it with so much effort, I thought of uploading it as well.Everyone makes mistakes and today I too may have made the mistake. I wish that I could try yours! But I will have to try to make them someday as well. First I have to grow some coriander. Here you can buy the fresh leaves at the supermarket, but for some reason I cannot seem to find the seeds for sale. I will grow some soon anyhow. This is a beautiful piece. Thanks for creating it and for sharing it.
