Hello and welcome to my first Crypto Shot game review! In this article we will talk about the new blockchain Play2Earn game “Crypto Shots”. We will talk about what this game actually is and how I was able to find it. Furthermore, I will give you a little bit of an overview of my experience and my feedback on this game. All in all, let’s buckle up for one of my first game reviews here on Hive! 😊

First things first, let’s talk a little about the actual game itself. The name suggests that it has to do something with shooting and you are correct! In a nutshell, this game is a typical First-Person Shooter or FPS. It takes place in a futuristic environment and therefore the guns and enemies are all blaster based. From my experience so far, the aim was to get rid of as many or all enemies as possible which are basically floating bots that are shooting blasts into you. Once you are able to clean a level you are able to proceed to the next one. But more on the experience in the next section.

My Experience & Review

With the generalities out of the way, let’s talk about my experience in this game! First you need to know that this game is played in the browser, so you will have no need to download any execution files or similar. The second thing you need to remember that this game is still in development so it will not be absolutely perfect and thirdly: it is a play2earn game so there is potential to earn additional crypto here! But let’s not focus on the last point. As I always say, a game must make fun as all Play2Earn games are firstly GAMES and the concept of games is to give the player fun!

When you visit the website you will find that you can try it out absolutely for free. That is what I did. I just clicked on the “Play 3D Game” Button and you are immediately in the game. It will give you a selection between the different Modes and because I am not the best FPS-gamer, I chose the easy mode. (Please no judgement here! :D)

With my first try I needed to figure out some mechanics and also get to know the map better. I failed gloriously as the time ran out before I was able to kill al enemies. Nevertheless, I was impressed by the graphics as it does not look too bad for a browser game. Obviously it is no Call of Duty here, but I don’t think that this is the aim here. You will quickly understand that your health is in the bottom left and your ammo is in the bottom right. Once you run out of ammo, you will lose the game so make sure not to waste too much. In the top right you can see your timer.

During the course of a round, you are able to find new weapons which already come with ammo. I could not see any new ammo providers but I guess all of these fancy boxes could be in the future. Anyhow, you will quickly get that different guns have different abilities and have different strengths and weaknesses. After a few rounds you will also be able to understand the map better.

So after a few tries I was able to finish and clear the first level! I must say that it had caught my ego and I wanted to proceed further and further. I also have to say that after a few tries you will get used to the bit of lag and sometimes too sensitive movements of the character but you can also change the sensitivity in the settings which is no big deal in my opinion.

After I cleared the first level, I was able to proceed to the second one which looked much different from the first one. This one even had portals which were kind of showing you the way. I encountered new exciting guns as well as new enemies. This means that this game has definitely more progression in it here! After a few tries in the second level, I was able to figure out how to navigate more efficiently.

I must admit that this second level was already a little bit harder but as I mentioned before, I am not the best shooter gamer here. Anyways, I was able to come to the final boss, but I was always too short on time as you can see by the timer in the top right. As a advise for my fellow gamers out there. This boss can teleport which is why I would suggest to save as much ammo as possible for the previous minions on this level. Unfortunately, I was not quite able to clear the second level but I will definitely give it a few more tries in the future.

Feedback

And now for the feedback. All in all, I would say that this game definitely has some potential. The current state is a good one for a game that is in its beta. There are obviously some hick ups like the lag and minor bugs, but I would expect this from a free to play game. Moreover, I find it very impressive what the developers were able to build here. Yes it is not a AAA game like we know it, but for the chance of earning some crypto here, this game is definitely worth trying!

The concept of the levels and the arcade thought behind it is pretty cool. I thin a PvP is also possible but should definitely not be the main priority. I think that a cool and well thought through arcade mode should be one of the first things to attract players.

Furthermore, I think that the variety of weapons is great but the variety of enemies could increase. The final boss is a great example of where this game can develop itself and I am sure that the developers have thought of it! All in all, I am very impressed and would recommend it to anyone who has some free time right now to try this game out. It definitely was fun to play for a few rounds and you could definitely kill 2-3 hours with that on a boring Sunday afternoon. And the cherry on the cake would be that you are able to earn some crypto.
