Spice, Seafood, and Satisfaction... Saba fish & Korean-style sauteed chicken

Lunchtime rolled around, and I decided it was time to shake things up from my usual go-to. Typically, I gravitate toward my favorite Chinese food stalls, where I know exactly what I’m getting and love every bite. But this time, I wanted to take my taste buds on a little adventure, so I wandered over to the Korean-style food stall I hadn’t visited in a while.

The last time I ordered from here was months ago, and I remembered being impressed by the bold flavors and unique taste. Now, don’t get me wrong—I appreciate Korean cuisine, but it’s not something I crave daily. Still, every once in a while, the desire for something different just hits, and this was one of those days.

One reason I don’t frequent Korean food stalls is the spice factor. I’m not exactly a fan of spicy food, and building up a tolerance isn’t high on my list. But there are times when I crave a change of pace, and today was the day.

So, what did I order? I went for something they call the "Combo Mix," and let me tell you, it was a winning choice.

I opted for item number seven, which was a delightful combination of chicken and saba fish. Now, whenever I hit up a Korean food stall, saba fish is almost always my go-to. First, because I’m a seafood lover, and second, because it pairs perfectly with that comforting seaweed soup.

Speaking of which, the seaweed soup here deserves a special mention. Even though it’s a complimentary side, it’s got that something extra—a real seaweed kick that makes you feel like you’re getting a little bonus with your meal.

Another thing that keeps me coming back are the toppings. Oh, the glorious toppings! And let’s not forget the side dishes. I’ve got a soft spot for the dried anchovies and, of course, a generous helping of kimchi. The way the kimchi’s sweet and sour tang complements the rich, savory flavor of the saba fish is just magical.

All this goodness came to just eight dollars, which I’d say is pretty great value for a Korean-style meal this satisfying. I left feeling full, happy, and already planning my next visit. Next on my list? The beef soup. From the pictures, it looks like a hearty, soul-warming dish—perfect for my next craving!

My sister does the same! Always loves a fun topping. 😋✨ I’ve never tried Korean food, but it seems quite tempting.
