My late night cravings satisfied at Teochew Rice

It's been weeks since I last ate at my favorite Teochew rice place so I went there a few nights back to experience the "point-and-eat" style dining. As soon as I reached the place, I was immediately amazed by the amount of food that was displayed at the counter. That's their strategy to sell their dishes in this kind of places. They let the food entice you as you pass by it. I'm the type of person that easily gets enticed by food so I gave in right away.

As I mentioned earlier, a few nights back, I ate at this Teochew Rice place in Bugis. It was already late at night and yet they were still open and replenished their dishes which gave me the impression that they would be open even after midnight.

The variety of dishes that are being prepared each day is plenty, more than enough for me to get confused about the dishes that I would like during that moment.

This chicken feet dish looks yummy but I'm not in a mood to try something unusual that night.

After my eyes wandered around the trays of food in this display, I was able to order these dishes on my plate. I have a bowl of rice, Tau Kee, Squash with peas, and sauteed pork.

Although all of these dishes are good, the one that I would say is my favorite is the stewed Tau Kee. It tastes healthy and it's a good source of protein as well.

The Tau Kee may not look appetizing but it is okay. At first, the texture may feel weird because there's a plastic-like quality to it but as you go on eating it it won't feel as awkward anymore.

The other that I like is the squash with peas. Aside from the good nutrition that it contains, the subtle sweetness of it is something that I like too.

The Teochew Rice place at Bugis is probably one of the best when it comes to this type of cuisine. The quality of each dish has been maintained ever since I started eating at this place. This spot shall remain as my favorite go-to place for late-night Teochew rice 😅.
