I found the best Nasi Lemak at Kampung Nasi Lemak Kukus
There's a spot in Somerset's Orchard Gateway shopping mall that offers an upscale version of a hawker stall. Everything feels and tastes expensive but I can guarantee that it's worth it. The space is not so big and the stalls may not be that many but it's a good thing because they curated a selection of food stalls that care about providing a higher quality of products. I was a bit reluctant at first because the prices range from S$8 to S$10 which is double the price compared to the regular hawker food centers. I gave it a try for the experience. As soon as I had the first bite, I realized that the price is justified by the quality of the food, it's so good!
In case you are wondering, Nasi Lemak is a rice dish that can be considered the national dish of Malaysia. The one that I'm having is a version with fried chicken as the main protein. Alongside the rice and the meat, there are toppings like fried peanuts, anchovies, slices of cucumber, and a fried egg as well.
On this dish, they served me with two types of sauce, a coconut milk-based and a chilli-based sauce. The coconut milk sauce is so rich and so delicious that I want it in every bite. It has a nice savory flavor and it brings out the best in this dish. The chili-based sauce is a combination of sweet, savory, and spicy taste. The combination of the 2 sauces is an explosion to my palette!
The servings are generous and the rice is also a good quality type. The Kampung Nasi Lemak Kukus stall has a focus on their specialty and they made it so that they can provide a good quality service and food as well.
I seldom eat Nasi Lemak but because of this food stall, I will keep coming back to Eat Alley just for this dish.
Eat Alley is at the 2nd Basement level of Orchard Gateway. It's not easy to find but it's worth the try because of the delicious serving of food and drinks as well.
Also, I found a nice slogan at the entrance of Orchard Gateway that I wanted to share...

Nasi Lemak looks ordinary at first but you mentioned it is topped with anchovies, and the fact that it is a national food of Malaysia, surely, it is very delicious.

I went this food court before during Chinese New Year period where many places were closed but not tried the nasi lemak. I did a search on the name and thought this other place may be the one I want to target.
