I found my new favorite chicken dish at The Original Taste Hawker Stall

Often, the simplest foods are the ones I enjoy the most. The reason I say this is because the simplest dishes are often the ones you don't expect much from, but they end up giving you greater satisfaction than anticipated. In most cases, these are foods that are affordable and accessible to make as well.

One of the food places that I love, which has become one of my go-to spots, is The Original Taste hawker food stall in 465 Food Court.

When it comes to simplicity, the chef is doing a great job highlighting the original or natural taste of the ingredients. I think that's the concept or idea the chef is utilizing as he develops or cooks the recipes for the dishes they serve. The seasonings are very basic, but the fundamentals of the cooking are perfect.

A good example of this is the dishes I ordered during my visit to this food court. I only ordered two dishes: the first one was sautéed broccoli and cauliflower, and the main dish was braised chicken thigh.

The vegetables were cooked perfectly; they were tender but not overcooked. The seasoning was basic; salt, pepper, and probably another type of seasoning that we couldn't discern well.

What I appreciate about this dish is that even though there's no flair when it comes to cooking, for me, a good vegetable is one that is cooked at the right temperature where the colors remain vibrant, yet there's a nice texture to it. It's a bit crunchy and soft inside, which I think is the great way to cook vegetables.

The chicken thigh is definitely my favorite! I thought it was going to be an expensive dish because of the size of the chicken and the quality of the cooking.

As soon as I cut the chicken in half and saw how the meat was cooked inside, I immediately knew that this dish was going to be a good one. One thing is for sure: the chicken used is fresh because of the color of the bones, which is light even after cooking.

The Original Taste hawker food stall demonstrates that exceptional food doesn't always require complex techniques or exotic ingredients. By focusing on fresh ingredients and proper cooking methods, they deliver dishes that are both satisfying and memorable, proving that sometimes, simplicity truly is the ultimate sophistication in cuisine.
